Kena island is located in the alas Strait between the islands of Lombok and Sumbawa. Due to Kena island's proximity to Sumba, administratively Kena island is part of the Poto Tano District of West Sumbawa Regency.

Although it lies between two relatively large islands, approach to kenawa is still quite complex. If you leave from the Port of Pringgabaya Lombok, you must transit from the port of Poto Tano on Sumbawa Island before heading to Kenawa.

When you arrive at this island, you will find a long wooden ferry. The pool will take you to a beautiful white sand beach and finally to a meadow. Almost every area of the island is grassland. There is a path leading you to the mountain.

Wherever you are, you will see a beautiful sea view. If you walk along the path until you reach the top of the mountain, the view you see will be very fascinating. Not only the blue sea can be seen, but also many other islands around Kenna.

There are many huts that can be used to shelter from the sun on the edge of the Kenna swamp. However, many tourists come here to camp, to enjoy a night under a starry sky in the middle of the ocean. Camping is permitted on the island with various strict rules and regulations.

If you come in good weather, you are not allowed to start a fire because the grass on this island can be very dry. You are not allowed to place any garbage here. In addition, you should also use reliable tents as the wind can blow very fast here.

If you want to visit the island, you need to be well prepared. Since there is no accommodation on the island, you should find the best way to go and bring enough supplies. If you do not carry camping equipment, you should not stay overnight on Kenna island, as the wind can be very rough.

The place is very picturesque, so make sure you bring photographic equipment. The topography of Kenawa Island is very unique and you will not be able to find similar sights elsewhere. Take as many pictures as you can here. Kenai island is especially good if photographed from above using a drone.

Very relaxed island with a small beach well suited for swimming and snorkeling. There were plenty of fish, starfish, sea urchin, and even a small shark within a short distance from shore. Best to visit during high tide in my opinion, since the beach becomes less picturesque at low tide. There’s a small restaurant that offers beverages (water, beer, fresh coconuts) and a short list of food.

Please be mindful of your trash while visiting. There was a large group of tourists who came and sat beside us (blaring loud music and disturbing everyone else’s peace) who left without cleaning up after themselves, meaning that there were beer bottles and trash left on the beach, some of which being certain to make its way into the water....

Kanawa Island is one of the most beautiful spots near Labuan Bajo, and it truly feels like a tropical paradise. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and white, and the vibrant coral reefs just a few steps from the shore make it perfect for snorkeling.

The island is small and peaceful, which gives it a very intimate charm; you can easily walk around and enjoy both the beach and the gentle hills. A short hike up the hill offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding islands and turquoise sea.
