Booked with: Green Rinjani - Open Trip Labuan Bajo 2 Days (designed to explore Komodo National Park)
I would like to give an honest review about my 2D1N Tour that i booked greenrinjani.com
The Tour included and overnight stay on the boat, some Diving Spots, Beaches and the famous Komodo Island.
First of all the crew was very friendly, young people (19) and the food was very very good.
The cabin was ok. It smelled moldy and there where stains on the sheets, but I could tolerate it for a night (I was already on board anyway).
I paid in cash. 2.3000.000 Indonesian Rupiah (145 Dollar) and also got asked to pay for the Komodo Park entrance fee 500.000 (31 Dollar).
The Diving spots where fantastic. The second one on pink beach even had life corals...But the Komodo Park was a total SCAM.
!!!! KOMODO ISLAND !!!!!
We reached the island (FULL of garbage) and got introduced to two "Rangers".
They told us there are 3 routes available and ask us wich one we want to to. A Crew member answered quickly "medium"!
I was relieved that at least it wasn't the short tour. The crew told me before we will spend 1 hour on the island, exploring.
After 10 Minutes of mostly meaningless talking the ranger said "I hope we will be lucky to see some dragons" and then we finally started the adventure!
After 2 Minutes of walking away (behind the village) there where 2 lifeless Komodos under a tree, next to the walking path. What a luck...! What follows is a 10 Minutes picture time.
1 Minute more of walking to the next tree. Again two lifeless Komodos! Omg we are soo lucky! Again 10 Minutes Picture time....
Suddenly the ranger said in a dramatic tone: "look Komodo near the medical center!!!“ (a fenced Hall) and there where 3 guys with sticks guiding a Komodo out of the fenced area in our direction. Wow we are so lucky...!
It almost seem like they keep unsedated Komodos near to release them whenever they needed ;) The animal was guided to us an laid down, taking a reliving breath in the sun..... PICTURE TIME!
After that, the amazing 1 hour trekking tour on Komodo island was over......
SHAME ON YOU, Komodo Island. And shame on me for supporting this animal cruelty with a lot of money.
I don't know where the entrance fee for the Park, wich I paid to the crew member, went. Guess they splitt it with the so called "Rangers". But we never been on the actual Park...
Beside this SCAM, the tour was realy OK. Basically the same tour all the agency's there sell..
Thanks for reading this review, I hope it will spare you from the visit and the disappointment of Komodo Island.
Beside this, enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of Indonesia and have...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Komodo National Park with Motul Indonesia Energy, alongside several influencers including Akang MV Mblo Rizky, Adella, Mario Irot from Wheels Story, and Vamels. Komodo Island, the largest island within the park, offers a myriad of fascinating experiences that every visitor should cherish. This island is renowned as the natural habitat of the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest lizard species, which thrives and grows in this unique environment.
Our journey was greatly enriched by the presence of a knowledgeable guide, whose name I unfortunately cannot recall. His detailed explanations about the Komodo dragons, including their origin, breeding habits, diet, and tips for a safe journey, were invaluable. He ensured our group was well-informed and safe throughout the tour. If you visit, I highly recommend hiring a guide like him to enhance your experience.
For a comfortable visit, it is essential to wear a hat and bring plenty of mineral water, as the weather on Komodo Island is extremely hot, dry, and windy. Additionally, there are several souvenir stalls near the entrance gate where you can purchase local items. While the prices are relatively high, reflecting its status as an international tourist destination, it is important to be vigilant about potential scams and inflated prices, especially for foreign tourists.
However, there are a few areas where improvements could significantly enhance the visitor experience. The cleanliness of the toilets was notably poor, with facilities appearing neglected and in need of regular maintenance. This aspect of the park detracted from the otherwise positive experience. Public amenities, such as information centers and other infrastructure, could benefit from renovation and better upkeep to meet the expectations of international visitors.
Improving these facilities would not only boost the overall visitor satisfaction but also reflect better on the management of this world-renowned national park. Despite these shortcomings, exploring Komodo National Park remains a remarkable and memorable experience. The natural beauty and unique wildlife of Komodo Island make it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure...
Read moreWe arrived at Komodo Island full of excitement to see the famous dragons in their natural habitat, just as we were told we would. According to our tour guide, we were supposed to do a one-and-a-half-hour trekking, slowly searching for dragons with the help of the park rangers (who you have to pay no matter what, supposedly for keeping you safe and explaining things along the way).
Unfortunately, the reality was completely different. The place was crowded with tourists. As soon as we arrived, they told us that because we were six people, we would need two guides, which meant double the cost. We started walking and quickly saw two dragons standing still, barely reacting to all the people around. After just a few more minutes, we saw another one sitting in a small artificial puddle. The guide explained that they put the water there themselves to help the dragons drink while they “prepare to hunt.” Honestly, the explanations made no sense.
Then they encouraged us to take pictures with the animal, and right after that, they said the tour was over because we had already seen the dragons. They claimed the long route wasn’t available and that we had to take the short one, which was supposed to last 45 minutes but didn’t even last 20. When I asked why we couldn’t continue, one of the guides said that if we wanted a longer route, we had to pay extra—even though they hadn’t delivered what was originally promised.
The guides barely explained two or three things, seemed in a hurry to finish, and their “job” made absolutely no sense. Having two guides for such a short walk was ridiculous. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences we’ve had. The issue isn’t just the money—it’s the constant feeling of being taken advantage of. This time, it was just too blatant.
On top of that, the entrance fee to the park is very high, and with the extra payment for the guides, you’d expect that money to be used for park preservation, but it’s clearly not the case. There’s trash everywhere and the place looks neglected. Really disappointing and sad...
