Do NOT go... First of all, local maffia ( sorry no other words for the unfriendly looking locals that surrounded us and forced to pay 75.000 (never paid more than 10k for a beach anywhere in Indonesia!!!) for parking. After, they followed us through the steep path down to the beach and every step we took on the beach. Really bothering, laughing about us, ... so we decided to go back up since relaxing on the beach was not possible anyway. Also, the typical rock "bridge" fell down 2 months ago so the beach is nice - but definetely NOT deserted with 10 locals following every footstep you take... Remember that if u visit and agree to pay, you incite them to keep on doing this. I totally agree some of the money can go to locals if you visit local place ( even though this beach is 100% public ) - but NOT in this rude and intrusive way. The "guides" looked more like maffia than...

The beach is actually good. People said that if you are lucky, you can get beautiful sunset here.

However, my unpleasant experience here is with the local people. When we first arrived, suddenly many .. many people are coming to us and insist to pay the ticket around IDR150k per car. Usually it is only around IDR50k. It is just quite annoying and feel a lil bit scary. It is okay if they greeting us well, but...

According to the locals, the arch has collapsed a couple of months back.. This is of no one's fault.. Is just mother nature doing her thing... My only complain is that, there is no easy access to this arch.. Google map brings us to a totally different area about 1.5km away from the arch area... But the water from afar looks beautiful, too bad no easy...

If there is one tourist destination you should not miss when you visit Sumba Island, it is the Bawana Beach. This is one of the most beautiful beaches. The track leading to the beach is high, steep, and slippery. Must tread carefully. There are young kids who will offer the assistance for going down the track, but they will ask for some money in return.

Mbawana Beach, A must place to visit when you are travelling to Sumba Island. The road to this beach quite difficult especially when rainy day. According our experience, the best time to take photo on this beach is afternoon until sunset. Be careful when you take photo with drone, because it is very windy.
