Read moreWas it a garden or a park?! Well who cares, even by walking some of the terrain quite challenging as if you were in a National Park. But with various food stalls and few public centre this was for sure a botanical garden. It’s a must to go here if you’re in the Bandung-Bogor Area. During weekdays it would need 45-60 minutes travel from Bogor and 90 – 120 minutes from Bandung. During holiday and peak season the duration to reach Cibodas Botanical Garden could stretch to 180-300 minutes, still it will be worth it. Two favourite points for me was (which) I assume as the Ciloto Waterfall and The Great Pine Forest. The Ciloto Waterfall is a (very mini) waterfall which run through the main car road and goes down to a (very) shallow river. You can take off your footwear and goes in to feel the soothing water of Cibodas. Yet, what astonished me most was the Great Pine Forest right around the curve after the waterfall, as if I am visiting Greenwood The Great. I totally wouldn’t surprised if Beorn and Radagast with its rabbit suddenly passed.
Tips in visiting this area: (Especially for non-hikers which have limited time and prefer to go by car) Go in weekdays (especially not peak season), at weekend car is not allowed to enter. Take one full run in car, pick your favourite spot, and then the next round go down there to enjoy the scenery. (the two up’s are mine, find your favourite one. There’s one more waterfall, but we didn’t manage to go there as it need hiking and our time was limited)
Be wary of: The main road is smooth, unfortunately the path between the main road to the garden consist of road trap in form of holes with 10-15 cm deep and 15cm – as wide as the road width. If you are pregnant, until the road being fixed either you have a patient driver or postponed until Cianjur Government fixed the road. There are two ticket booth, the first one for the State Government (Rp. 17.000 for 3 adult & 1 car) and the second one for the Garden (Rp.9500/adult and Rp.15.000/car).
Enjoy the...
