Golden tip: how to get a ticket for antique train (the tickets are quite limited!!) Many visitors, either local or international, are disappointed since they arrived bybtge time all the tickets had already been sold. In holiday or peak season, be there as soon as possible, I suggest you be there before 8am. Based on further information from the parking guy, people usually take queue since 7am. If you were a big fan of old trains, I'm prety sure that you would enjoy the one-hour trip, Ambarawa-Tuntang-Ambarawa. You could enjoy the remnants of the past.
7-8am: get your vehicle parked. Buy the entrance and train tickets, Go across the museuam, there is a local market, Pasar Lanang (Lanang market).just right across the museum.
Ask people where you can buy "nasi pecel/bubur koyor/nasi rames/gendar pecel/soto" The stalls are inside the market.
That's how local people start the day. One portion may cost you 3000 rupiahs while the fried tofu/fried tempeh cost 1000rupiahs.
Fyi, Nasi pecel: rice with veggie and sweet (and lil bit hot) peanut sauce Gendar pecel: same with above, but with rice cake instead Nasi rames: rice with tempeh, veggie, noodle Soto: soupy dish, one of the staple delicacies of Indonesia.
My grandma's house is approximately 5 mins from the museum, fyi.
