While this spot is often highly praised as a prime location for a sunrise tour, I personally found it a bit overhyped. Certainly, it offers beautiful views of a mountain sunrise, but it's not notably unique compared to other similar locations. Unfortunately, Borobudur cannot be seen clearly from this point unless one uses a drone, which can be disruptive to other visitors. Moreover, this area gets incredibly crowded, especially since the Manohara Sunrise Tour has been discontinued, leaving tourists with fewer options for early morning excursions. Consequently, everyone flocks here, making it quite congested. Interestingly, I stumbled upon a much better spot to watch the sunrise from amidst a nearby rice field, which was far less crowded. In conclusion, while this spot is undoubtedly popular, missing out on it won't significantly detract from your experience. As a matter of fact, I was fortunate enough to participate in the Manohara Sunrise Tour several years ago, and in my opinion, that was a far superior experience.

Gorgeous!! Would recommend that everyone go there at least once. Seeing the sunrise from this spot is really a sight to behold. We left our hotel at around 3.30am and there were already a few people at the photo spot. Also, before you reach the area where you can take nice photos of the sun and everything else, you have to climb a few flights stairs that are really steep. I estimate that it was around a 5 to 10mins walk up. As the sunrise here is early ie 5.30am to 5.45am, we camped here for around 45mins until the sky started to brighten. (Bring a thin jacket because it can get cold before the sun comes up.) I love the rolling mist and fog and sculptures in the distance. When the sun came up, it rose super fast so when you take pictures you have to be quick. Along the way up (or down), there were some stalls that sold fried tempeh, vegetable patties etc. We bought a few from this stall and it was really nice. It was a good morning snack!

First know this place back on 2017. Still got photos from back then here, I just upload a video from recent visit in 2023. This place designed for those who respect the the golden hours. It’s very beautiful to watch sunrise here. The area is quite spacious, but I still recommend you to standby from 5am since mostly the area will be crowded with many tourist. To arrive at this place you will need to walking around 300 meters from the parking lot, and it’s on the mountain, so that 300 meters means you are climbing up. No worries since the access is smooth. Parking lot for car and motorcycle are available, and the entry ticket cost are affordable. There are some area you can use to take a photos with beautiful scenery. It’s a bit tiresome to hike this hill, but I 100% agree that it is worth it.

A couple decades ago this is a tranquil place where one (sunrise hunter like me 😌) can sits an hour or two waiting for the sun to come up and give its ray of life for us creatures of earth. Fog become thinner, the mighty Borobudur emerge ... and slapping sound of cameras’ shutters breaks the silence. Today things are different digital shooters flog the place and will bombarded the tranquility with continuous shutter releases even before the sun rises. So you must come earlier to claim your spot, that means you will expose to cold longer 😁 bring hot coffee in thermos 👌 I love the place still 😊. After the sunrise wait until people left and you get the place to yourself .. for enough moments to enjoy until late comers begin to flood the place again if you are there during holidays.

Organized Neatly. This scenic spot is very crowded when I went there, but at this time of virality, what place is not crowded if it is viral. Especially in high peak times, on sunday morning of a long weekend. Thumbs up for the community around the place, the best thing that I like about them is they are not greedy, unlike some other place that I have visited. Car parking, only need to pay 1 time at the front (5K) and the parking team give a good service without asking for more. Entrance ticket only 15K/person, the pathway is neatly paved with stones and hand rail. The walk from carpark / ticketing to the spot is only 300 metres, but it is very steep and tiresome, prepare your stamina.

Beautiful scenery.. Punthuk setumbu locates near Borobudur. The best time to visit here before 5:00 am to see some sunrise. But for me anytime here scenery is still beautiful. Visit here in workdays or schooldays, you can have a more relax time and not too crowded. The road are narrow, best you come with motorcycle. The entrance is only Rp.5.000. prepare yourself cause the journey is an uphill road consist of blocks road, then some high steps.. use comfortable footware. It's about 300meters uphill. Don't worry along the way you will find some waroong to buy water or some hot drinks and snacks.. the hard work are paid With beautiful scenery when you get to the top..
