The view and place itself were really awesome! I just wished it was a bit more developed, like the snorkeling services at Gili islands.
I arrived on a Wednesday morning, and only one of the ~10 lodges was open. They offered snorkeling goggles for only 25k and boat services for 50k, which was great and cheap. However they didn’t have a working swimming fin, so that was unfortunate.
Pictured here is Ali (12 yrs old) who took me by boat to the best spot & accompanied me to snorkel. I’d say we had so much fun (and he was a much better swimmer despite wearing no goggles) 🥳
I was there for perhaps 1.5 or 2 hours and by the time I was leaving I saw only one other group arriving. I wish it gets more popular and developed...
Read moreThis is a great place to spend a couple of hours snorkelling. It is about an hour from Ambon by taxi and worth the visit. You pay a small entry fee. Access is via a bunch of cafes on stilts over the bay or there is a small rocky beach. I went on a Saturday at 10am and it was peaceful and not so busy. The snorkelling is good- not the best you will see in Maluku and there is a little rubbish visible at times- but still a great day out. You can leave your gear at a cafe while you snorkel and have mie goreng, drinks and snacks on the cafe terrace...
Read moreThis part of hidden cove is stunningly beautiful, especially when viewing from the sea side. The water is so clear that we can see the colorful fishes swimming across the reefs. However, as we come the entrance stepping down all the way to the shore, so many garbages are visibly scattering all over the place & even in the water. Let alone some slum-look-alike shacks establishments that just desecrate the real beauty of this tourism spot in central Ambon. Oh my +62 beloved country...when will you realize how abundantly blessed you've been...
