Well this was a surprise!! A Jewish holocaust museum up in the hills about an hour north of Manado in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. And it's right next door to the only synagogue in all of Indonesia, or so I was told. Both buildings constructed beautifully from sandstone in the Jewish style. They look like they could be located in Jerusalem. Of course, as with every holocaust museum, it is an extremely sobering place to visit, reminding us of what extreme nationalism can create through horrific cruelty to fellow humans. It's a one-room museum next to Indonesia's only currently active synagogue building.
