Kaki gunung sibayak — Attraction in North Sumatra

Starting point for the hike to mount Sibayak. Pay entrance fee here. There are 2 roads leading to this point. 1) The east side road - road condition gets bad from Neraya eco park and the car could not go through - leaving a 1.3km hike up incline to the starting point. 2) west side road - road condition is poor at the start - car not able to pass wisata baru. It is a long walk in or alternatively paying for the local minibus that brings you to the starting point.

This is the exact point of entrance to the Mt Sibayak volcano trek (ignore the other points in Google Maps, we got lost following them and there's very little signposting in the area). Once you pass the main gate to park you'll eventually arrive at this shop below selling snacks and bad coffee where you need to pay the 20k entrance. Good medium difficulty hike to the top, July 2025 entry fee was 20,000 IDR.

From the entrance of the park, mostly straight up, though we walked from the village. There and back was 18km. From the entry point to the top and back is about 4-5km.
