WHO IS THIS FOR? Travelers looking to explore stunning cliffside beaches with a convenient pairing of two locations, ready for a bit of walking, and familiar with local fees and customs.
🌟 3 THINGS I ENJOYED: 1️⃣ Two-for-One Adventure 🌊: Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach are located next to each other, making it easy to visit both in one trip. 2️⃣ Accessible Parking 🚗: The parking area is convenient, providing a good starting point for exploring. 3️⃣ Reasonably Priced Shops 🛍️: Local shops offer snacks and drinks at fair prices, and most items can be negotiated.
💬 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: Visiting Angel’s Billabong was a great experience, especially since it’s paired with Broken Beach. The proximity of the two makes for an efficient trip, allowing you to enjoy both scenic spots in one go. However, be prepared for a decent walk from the parking lot to reach the viewpoints for both beaches, as they are cliff-only views.
The entrance fee of 5,000 rupees for scooters or 10,000 rupees for taxis felt steep compared to what I’m used to back home, but it’s a standard practice here. While slightly frustrating, it’s manageable if you plan ahead. Once there, the views make up for the inconvenience, offering truly picturesque scenes of natural beauty.
The shops near the beach are reasonably priced, and most items can be negotiated, which adds a touch of fun to the experience. Whether it’s a quick snack or a refreshing drink, you’ll find what you need without breaking the bank.
💡 A FEW NOTES: 1️⃣ Wear Comfortable Shoes 👟: There’s a fair bit of walking, so ensure you’re equipped for it. 2️⃣ Bring Cash 💸: Keep small denominations handy for fees and purchases. 3️⃣ Combine Visits 🗺️: Pair this trip with Broken Beach to make the most of your time in the area.

Read moreI recently visited Angel's Billabong on Nusa Penida, and while it's undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, I was struck by how quickly the idyllic scene could turn dangerous. The natural infinity pool, carved into the cliffs, is simply breathtaking. The turquoise water, the dramatic rock formations, it's truly awe-inspiring. However, as I watched other tourists, and even some locals, venturing into the water, I couldn't help but notice the potential hazards. The ocean here is incredibly powerful. Even when the waves appeared calm, I saw a few rogue waves crash over the edge of the pool, sending sprays of water high into the air. I imagined how easily a swimmer could be swept away by such a wave. The currents also seemed unpredictable. I saw a couple of people struggling to swim back to the edge of the pool, seemingly caught in a strong undertow. The slippery rocks surrounding the pool were another major concern. People were slipping and sliding everywhere, making it easy to lose your balance and fall. I even saw someone take a nasty tumble on the wet rocks. While I understand the allure of swimming in such a unique location, I strongly advise caution. Check tide times carefully and only enter the water during the lowest part of the tide when conditions are calmest. Observe the waves and currents closely. If anything looks even remotely dangerous, stay out of the water. Wear water shoes for extra grip on the slippery rocks. And most importantly, don't venture too far out into the pool, especially when conditions are uncertain. Angel's Billabong is a truly magical place, but it's important to remember that it's also a powerful force of nature. By prioritizing safety and respecting the environment, you can enjoy its beauty...
Read moreIt's another beautiful spot you can enjoy while exploring the western part of Nusa Penida Island, in Bali. We came here after visiting Broken Beach and Kelingking Beach, which was very exhausting as you will go up and down the steep stairs to reach the beach to see get better spot at this lovely area.
Well, after Kelingking beach, we visited Broken beach which is in the proximity and we only walk around 15 minutes to reach Angel's Billabong. This place is like a creek with unique rock formations and very clear, cool water. Its unique shape, hanging by on the brink of vast ocean, combined with clear water, makes it look so inviting. We didn't get the chance to dip in the water due to some time constraints .
There is a path from Broken Beach to Angel's Billabong, but if you need to get closer to the creek, it will be quite rough as you will walk around the rock. Make sure you wear your comfy shoes and proper clothes for a walk under the sun (it can be very hot depending on the time of your visit) and some changes as well if you want to swim or dip in the water.
The parking lot is available and quite spacious, but perhaps it can be busy or full (before the pandemic). There are many cafes and food stalls or warung around here. You can have lunch here as well, as we did. The food is nice, the price is normal and they do have traditional Balinese menu as well as the western one. Nice ice cream as well!
We came here to Nusa Penida Island by fast boat from Sanur Beach. We book a day tour and rent the car for that. A local tour guide drove the car and took us to 4 places: Kelingking beach, Broken beach, Angel's Billabong and Crystal Bay. it is really recommended as all these places are...
