Makam Siti Nurbaya is a historical and cultural site located on a hill overlooking the city of Padang and the Batang Arau river. It is said to be the tomb of Siti Nurbaya, a fictional character from a famous novel by Marah Rusli, who died of a broken heart after being forced to marry a man she did not love. The tomb is hidden behind a large rock with a narrow entrance. It is covered with white cloth and has a white gravestone with the name Siti Nurbaya engraved on it.
I visited this place as a fan of the novel and the movie adaptation. I was curious to see the place where the tragic love story took place. I had to climb a long staircase of about 1 km to reach the tomb. It was quite tiring, but the view from the top was worth it. I could see the whole city and the sea from there. There was also a beautiful park with shady trees and benches where I could rest and enjoy the scenery.
The tomb itself was very simple and modest, but it had a solemn and sacred atmosphere. I felt a mix of sadness and admiration for Siti Nurbaya, who sacrificed her happiness for her family and her people. I paid my respect and prayed for her soul. I also took some pictures, but I was careful not to disturb the sanctity of the place.
I think this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves literature, history, or culture. It is not only a tourist attraction, but also a symbol of the spirit and struggle of the Minangkabau people. It is also a reminder of the importance of love and freedom in life. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn more about the story of Siti Nurbaya and experience the beauty and...
