Glagah Beach, located just 40 kilometers southwest of Yogyakarta, is one of my favorite spots. Not only is it easy to reach, but the beach also has a captivating lagoon and a road that stretches right into the ocean, surrounded by massive wave breakers (tetrapods) on all sides. As I walk towards the water, I can’t help but admire the tetrapods, some of which are even used by local fishermen as makeshift seats. The towering stacks of these tetrapods, which rise higher than the road, offer the perfect photo opportunities, with the ocean and sky as a stunning backdrop. There’s something thrilling about watching kids waiting for the big waves to hit the wave breakers at both ends of the road. When the waves crash, seawater splashes up like rain, drenching the road and creating an exhilarating scene. I’ve even joined in a few times, capturing the moment with the sea spray in the air, creating the perfect dramatic shot. It’s always an...

Exotic wave breakers at a clean beach inside the vast Glagah Beach tourist destination. A concrete jetty about 200 m long from the lagoon to the beach makes a walkway and tourist market with food shops, indoor swimming pools for kids, and restrooms. A seafood restaurant, water rides, more restrooms and a musholla are available around the lagoon. The East side of the jetty is a beautiful estuary of the Serang River. Vast parking yards for motorbikes,...
