🌟 **Kawah Putih: A Mesmerizing Natural Wonder** I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kawah Putih, also known as the White Crater, during my trip to Ciwidey, Indonesia. Let me tell you, it was an otherworldly experience that left me in awe! 🌋 **The Crater Lake**: As I approached the edge of the crater, the first thing that caught my eye was the striking turquoise color of the lake. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. The water's hue changes subtly, sometimes leaning toward green or blue, depending on the sunlight and sulfur content. Standing there, surrounded by mist and the faint smell of sulfur, I felt like I'd stepped into a dream. 🚶♀️ **Exploring the Surroundings**: The walk around the crater's edge is relatively easy, and it offers breathtaking views. The contrast between the white mineral deposits, the dark volcanic rocks, and the vibrant water is simply mesmerizing. Don't forget to snap some photos—you'll want to capture this surreal beauty. 🛶 **Pontoon Ride**: For an up-close encounter with the lake, I recommend taking the pontoon ride. Gliding across the water, you'll feel the cool breeze and witness the ever-changing colors. It's a peaceful and serene experience that allows you to appreciate nature's artistry. 📸 **Photography Paradise**: Whether you're a professional photographer or just someone with a smartphone, Kawah Putih provides endless photo opportunities. The mist swirling over the lake, the gnarled trees, and the distant mountains create a magical backdrop. 🌿 **Surrounded by Nature**: Beyond the lake, the surrounding forest adds to the allure. If you're up for a forest hike, you'll encounter unique flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for the elusive Javan hawk-eagle and other bird species. 🍃 **Tips for Visitors**: - **Timing**: Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and catch the best lighting. - **Dress Comfortably**: The weather can be chilly due to the high altitude, so bring a jacket. - **Respect Nature**: Let's all do our part to preserve this natural wonder. No littering, please! In summary, Kawah Putih is a must-see destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a magical escape. It's a place where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and time seems to stand still. 🌏✨

Kawah Putih is located on the tourist path of Ciwidey - Patengan. It is located close to a number of other tourist attractions, such as Ranca Upas, Patuha Resort and TWA Cimanggu. The exact address of Kawah Putih Bandung is: Sugihmukti Village, Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency, West Java. From the city of Bandung, this destination is about 50 kilometers. Or it can be reached in about an hour and a half via the Soreang Pasir Koja Toll Road. To go to this destination is quite easy. In addition to a complete sign board, it is also supported by the relatively good condition of road infrastructure. Especially now there are navigation applications that have been sophisticated such as Google Map, Bing Map and Apple Map. Just type, then follow the instructions, it will definitely arrive. If there are a few obstacles, maybe on a long holiday or Eid. Usually the Ciwidey - Patengan lane at these times will be very congested, because visitors are booming to meet the tourist attractions that are scattered among these paths. Meanwhile, the existing road is narrow, winding and uphill. So that sometimes it is difficult for large vehicles to pass each other. But in general, as long as you don't come on a long holiday, there shouldn't be any problems with transportation. How to use public transportation? It doesn't matter either. From the city of Bandung take a bus at the Leuwi Panjang terminal, which is heading for Ciwidey. From Ciwidey terminal another public transportation goes to the location of this tourist attraction.

An okay site for adult, probably a good place for children or teenager (primary/junior high) to go on a study tour, if their teachers could explain what's inside or what happened in this site. A natural hot bed of sulfuric lake and mud/swamp made by volcanic eruption from ages ago, nowadays its the indonesian and much cheaper version of Yellowstone park (USA). The entrance will set you each idr 25k for local, and idr 75k for foreigner (about 5 usd). If you're not using your own car you have to use local transport called ontang-anting, group using buses would have to use ontang anting as well, it will set you each 20k for coming and going to the site, just brace yourself and prepare for rough riding for a while, these ontang-anting driver sometimes acted as rally drivers so becareful and just warned the driver if the started acting up. Nowadays it just transformed into a place with lots of natural instagrammable spot. For adult this place is where you can find a GOT (Game of thrones)-esque withered tree and white sandy flooring reminiscent of not existence snow. The air was perpetually cool, around 18 to 21 celcius, it was fresh air with hint of sulfuric smell, a big hint. Lots of stairs which was hell for an obese like me, but still manageble (stair not too steep), some set of stairs was wheelchair accesible (not recommended though, because in the lake area no stable / paved floor, for wheelchair, i recommend using only the observation deck, quite good view) Lots of private fotografer offering printed photo for idr 20k or transferred to your phone for 10k, each fotografer will direct and take your photo with their camera, quite good actually. You can ride horse for few minutes (15 minutes top) for idr 100k, you will ride it through a nearby local tea field You can get a very cheap coffee (idr 5k) inside the male toilet, which is free by the way. That's it that's the whole package, 2 to 3 hour here is enough.

Total tourist trap!!! Beware! I don't often give such negative reviews of places but this place was so utterly disappointing that I feel I have to warn people. The crater itself is beautiful for sure but there are some serious draw backs that you should know about before you go through the trouble and expense of getting here. First of all it's an arduous and somewhat dangerous two hour drive out of Bandung. Once you get to the entrance of the facility and pay an exorbitant fee for tickets and parking, (foreigners are charged double for the entrance fee by the way) you actually need to drive another half hour up a narrow, steep, windy road dodging other cars and motorcycles the whole way up. Then when you finally get there, the people running g the attraction nickle and dime you for every single thing they can. My wife aas told that facemasks were absolutely required and when she went to buy them, they told her one price, and when she went to the car and came back with the money, the price had magically doubled. I actually have a vlog and I did a video about this place. Check it out on YouTube so you can see what I'm talking about. It's on my channel, Just Your Average Nico.

Breathtaking! This is a very cool natural phenomena, and a very beautiful sight indeed! The crater lake is huge and the chemicals have caused it to be a natural wonder. The volcanic area is still very much active and there are still fumaroles to be spotted around. Do not step into the crater. The place is large but it is still suffering from overcrowding. The ground is being trampled upon and there is litter everywhere. I visited during a public holiday and it was difficult to get past the crowds and I had to wait to get a shot without the passing heads. There are also photographers who will offer to direct your poses and take your instagram-worthy shots for a price. There are other activities before you enter the pathway leading to the crater, such as horse riding on the very thin horses. There is an enormous price difference for locals and tourists. The entrance ticket for tourist is exorbitant, especially if you are driving in, instead of taking the public shuttle. You also have to pay if you want to walk the bridge to the centre of the crater.

I went there twice; by car and motorbike. If you go by car, you can directly park your car near the crater. If you go by motorbike, you have to park far from the crater and go up by vehicles provided there. The way up takes less than 15 minutes but the route is dangerous. Don't worry though, the driver is more than skillful so far 😅. To see the crater, you need to walk a bit. There's no food seller up above. You may bring your own food and drink if you wish to have snack up there. It was not comfortable enough the last time I went there as it was not easy to take good pics. So avoid high season if possible. Don't go when the weather is rainy. Nothing you can do if it rains. People actually rent umbrellas but still you won't get the best view. Make sure you wear mask and warm clothes to keep you safe. Around the white crater, there is a small forest where you can wander around. There is also a special place for senior citizens to enjoy the view.
