Sade Village in Lombok is a hidden gem that successfully preserves its authentic form while providing visitors with a captivating experience. Strolling through the village's narrow lanes, you'll encounter traditional Sasak architecture, with intricately designed thatched-roof houses known as "Bale." During my visit, I had the privilege of stepping inside one of these authentic houses and embarking on a guided tour of its interior.
Inside the house, I marveled at the simple yet elegant design and witnessed the villagers' exceptional craftsmanship firsthand. The use of natural materials, such as bamboo and clay, created a warm and inviting ambiance. The guide shared insightful stories about the house's construction techniques, the symbolism behind various elements, and the daily life of the villagers. It was a fascinating glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the Sasak people.
After immersing myself in the village's authenticity, I made my way to the lookout tower. The short climb to the top was well worth it, as I was rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding vicinity. The lush green rice fields stretched as far as the eye could see, contrasting beautifully with the sparkling azure waters of the nearby coast. It was a serene and picturesque scene that left me in awe of Lombok's natural beauty.
While Sade Village's preservation efforts and the informative interior tour earn high praise, there is room for further development of visitor facilities and amenities. Clear signage and more interactive activities or workshops would enhance the...
Read moreHonestly I don't really know what to think of this place. Local guide we had with us was nice but modern even thought they claim to still live in old ways same as surrounding villages. As we walked through the village you could see people watching tv, they claim not to be Muslims but they have quite huge mosque in the village and I've personally seen lots of people pray. I'm not saying it's bad think, just saying that local guy told us their religion is about nature (can't remember exact name) not Islam nor Hindu. Yes, villagers are good at weaving and they pick and grow their own cotton though most of the stuff you'll find in village shops has been brought from "outside" world. By the touch of the fabric you should feel and should be able to tell what's authentic and what's not. Overall village is beautiful, locals are nice and if you pick a guide who will walk you through your won't regret. Our guide told us village tax (entrance fee) is individual and he didn't forced us to pay any particular amount. He said it's up to us how much we want pay and also for the tour. He said it's even okay if we won't pay at all, but I wouldn't believe that. So if you're curious about our expenses we paid 50K entrance fee and 100K per person for guidance through, but as i said it's individual. Our local guide had quite good english and we learned a lot but as I mentioned before I not sure everything he said was true. Overall nice experience, something you don't see everyday, you should surely visit if you're...

In the middle of the village there is a tree called Pohon Cinta (love tree). Every couple in the village before marriage, seeing each other at pohon cinta. It said their love will lasting longer even the tree itself has no leaves.
