Zor Zor Church in Mako is one of the most beautiful churches in West Azerbaijan and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Zour Zour Zour is the only historical monument in Iran that is not in its original place and has been moved once and will give you a spectacular view. This church is located in a very beautiful space and offers a spectacular view. Due to the presence of followers of the Christian religion in Iran, a number of churches can be seen in every corner of our country, one of which is the Church of the Force of Force in Mako. Due to its location, the Zur Zor Church in Mako is located next to a village called Baron, which is a historical place of worship and is immersed in a beautiful and charming silence. The building is located at the mouth of a valley through which the Zangi Mar River flows, and each piece of it contains historical stories and mysteries. This church is called the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is known as the Force of Force, and with a spectacular view next to it, it displays one of the most unique images for you. The appearance of the church is very simple and valuable, which is why its name has been included in the list of national monuments of Iran, and in addition, it has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List and has attracted the attention...
Read moreThis church is harder to reach than Lonely Planet makes you think (have they actually been here??), because the road leading to it is closed for the public, as it belongs to the dam. We asked the rather unfriendly guard at the gate for permission to pass and luckily got it after waiting for around 10min. Please also be aware that as of spring 2018, you can reach the chapel only from Maku. We opted to try the gravel road connecting the village nearby to Siah Cheshmeh, it's doable, but not recommended if you don't have a 4 wheel drive. The chapel itself is closed but beautifully located, throning above the artificial lake beneath. Most certainly, you won't have to share these views with anyone else.
Some info from Wikipedia:

The construction of this chapel cross surmounted in the center of a drum dome dates back to the 9th to 14th centuries. In agreement with the Armenian Apostolic Church, the building was relocated 600 meters by the Iranian authorities in 1987-1988, following the decision to build a dam on the Zangmar River, to avoid being inundated in the...
Read moreIt's a beautiful church with a simple design, located in a wonderful place with a sacred atmosphere and view to dam lake. I've read somewhere that the church building had moved to this place due to build the dam and prevent it from going underwater. The access road to the church is a private road owned by the dam management organization, So you need permission to go inside. Plus the best way to go to this place is traveling from Maku, the road from Zor Zor church to Qareh Kelisa which passes through few villages is under construction (and in some part...
