Mesr Desert — Attraction in Jandaq

The Egyptian Desert, also known as "Mazar'e Yusuf," "Kalate Yusuf," or "Chah Draz" (Joseph's Farm, Joseph's Stronghold, or Long Well), is a mesmerizing desert near the hamlet of Egypt in Isfahan's Khor and Biabanak regions. Why "Egyptian," you ask? Well, it's an amusing story.

The settlement is named after one of its past residents, Yusuf. During a severe drought, Yusuf decided to dig multiple wells to supply water for the neighborhood. Unfortunately, even these wells ultimately dry up. Undeterred, the people created a deeper well, naming it "Chah Draz" (Long Well). Yusuf, however, was dissatisfied with the name. Drawing on the biblical account of Joseph in Egypt, he proposed calling the well, and later the entire community, "Egypt." The community flourished throughout time, and so did its status as a tourist attraction.

During my vacation, I got the opportunity to ride a camel. As I rode the camel, it swiftly dropped me back on the ground, much to the delight of a few of local youngsters. Their laughter is still echoing in my ears.
