The museum's building has an area of 3400 square meters, and its perineum is a mosaic of carpets. The museum's designer is Abdul Aziz Faramanfarmaeian. The building has two halls and is used to display the carpets of handmade textiles and carpets. The ground floor of the museum is intended for the permanent display of 150 pieces of carpet and its second floor for holding seasonal and casual exhibits. Museum features Iran Carpet Museum is the most valuable Iranian carpet from the 9th century to the contemporary era and is considered a rich source of research for the researchers and art of friends. Usually about 135 boards of Iranian carpet masterpieces are displayed in the ground floor hall of the important centers of carpet weavers like Kashan, Kerman, Isfahan, Tabriz, Khorasan, Kurdistan and others. Also, Tabriz Carpet will showcase the view of every visitor in this exhibition. In this exhibition, examples of carpets of the Shahnameh Beyznghryh are displayed which depict the corners of literature, myth, religion, and rich Iranian art and culture. In the museum's library, about 3,500 books in Farsi, Arabic, French, English and German are available to art historians and researchers. Research in the history, developments and historical quality of the carpet industry, especially in Iran, is the collection and purchase of samples of Persian carpets and the holding of temporary exhibitions from carpets in Iran and elsewhere in the world.

I’m in love with the beautiful architecture of the Carpet Museum, and I could kiss Kamran Diba’s hands for designing it! The exterior space, with its repetitive columns, felt like the warp and weft of a carpet. As someone without much background in carpets, seeing the differences in motifs and colors from various regions of Iran was incredibly fascinating to me. The entrance area of the museum felt a bit confusing—I didn’t know where to go. It seemed that after the revolution, during the Pahlavi era, the museum officials had arranged the carpets and graphic signs in a poorly thought-out way, which made it difficult to understand the navigation. That said, the museum guides were very active and helpful, always ready to provide thorough explanations if asked. It was also the first museum I’ve ever seen with huge billboard advertisements from a jewelry brand, which struck me as odd for a government-run museum. The carpets were categorized based on different regions of Iran and were mostly from the Qajar and Pahlavi periods. Around 2,500 carpets are preserved in this museum, and the oldest one dates back about 500 years!

موزهٔ فرش، یکی از موزه‌های استان تهران است. این موزه به دستور شهبانو فرح پهلوی ساخته شد و در روز ۲۲ بهمن۱۳۵۶ به وسیله وی گشوده شد. این موزه در ضلع شمالیپارک لاله تهران واقع شده‌است. در این موزه فرش‌های بسیار نفیس از سراسر ایران که حاصل کار هنرمندان مشهور می‌باشد به نمایش گذاشته شده‌است. هدف از تشکیل این موزه را می‌توان پژوهشی در سوابق، تحصیلات و کیفیت تاریخی هنر و صنعت فرش خاصه فرش ایرانی دانست. این موزه شامل سایر محصولات از قبیل گلیم هم می‌شود. فاطمی یا به عبارتی دیگر در ضلع شمال غربی پارک لاله و در فضایی به وسعت ۱۲۰۰۰ متر مربع واقع شده‌است. این موزه در سال ۱۳۴۰ به صورت ناتمام به منظور گالری فرش ساخته شد و به مدت ۱۵ سال به صورت متروکه باقی ماند و سپس در اوایل سال ۱۳۵۵، کار تعمیرات و تغییرات کلی آن آغاز و در نهایت روز ۲۲ بهمن ماه سال ۱۳۵۶ رسماً افتتاح گردید. ساختمان موزه ۳۴۰۰ متر مربع مساحت دارد و آذین‌های نمای بیرونی آن شبیه دار قالی است. طراح بنای این موزه،عبدالعزیز فرمانفرمائیان است. ساختمان دارای دو تالار است و برای نمایش انواع قالی‌های دست بافت و گلیم مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرد. طبقه همکف این موزه برای نمایش دائمی ۱۵۰ قطعه فرش و طبقه دوم آن برای برگزاری نمایشگاه‌های موردی و فصلی در نظر گرفته شده‌است. موزه فرش ایران دارنده با ارزش‌ترین نمونه‌های قالی ایران از قرن نهم هجری تا دوره معاصر است و از منابع غنی تحقیقی برای پژوهشگران و هنر دوستان به‌شمار می آید. معمولاً حدود ۱۳۵ تخته از شاهکارهای قالی ایران، بافت مراکز مهم قالی‌بافی مانند کاشان، کرمان، اصفهان، تبریز، خراسان، کردستان و جز آن‌ها، در تالار طبقه همکف به معرض نمایش گذاشته می‌شود. همچنین در این نمایشگاه تابلوفرش‌های نفیس تبریزی، فرش تبریز به نمایش درمی آید که نظر هر بیننده‌ای را به خود جلب می‌کند. در این نمایشگاه نمونه‌هایی از قالیچه‌های تصویری شاهنامه بایسنغری به نمایش درآمده است که گوشه‌هایی از ادبیات، اسطوره، مذهب و فرهنگ و هنر غنی ایران را نشان می‌دهد. در کتاب‌خانه موزه حدود ۳۵۰۰ جلد کتاب به زبان‌های فارسی، عربی، فرانسه، انگلیسی و آلمانی در اختیار هنردوستان و پژوهشگران قرار می‌گیرد. پژوهش در سوابق، تحولات و کیفیت تاریخی هنر و صنعت فرش، خاصه در ایران، گردآوری و خریداری نمونه انواع قالی‌های دست بافت ایرانی و برگزاری نمایشگاه‌های موقت از فرش ایران و سایر نقاط جهان، از اهداف موزه به‌شمار می آید. Located in Tehran, beside Laleh Park, and founded in 1976, the Carpet Museum of Iranexhibits a variety of Persian carpets from all over Iran, dating from the 16th century to the present. The museum's exhibition hall occupies 3,400 square meters (10,200 ft²) and its library contains 33,000,000 books. The museum was designed by architect Abdol-Aziz Mirza Farmanfarmaian. The perforated structure around the museum's exterior is designed both to resemble a carpet loom, and to cast shade on the exterior walls, reducing the impact of the hot summer sun on the interior temperature.

موزه‌ی فرش تهران واقعاً یه جای خاص و دیدنیه. فرش‌های فوق‌العاده‌ای از دوره‌های مختلف تاریخی داره که هر کدوم یه داستان جذاب پشتشونه. چیزی که این بازدید رو برای ما خیلی خاص کرد، حضور جناب پورجم عزیز بود که با حوصله و علاقه، تک‌تک آثار رو برامون توضیح دادن. ایشون آخر هفته‌ها توی موزه هستن و اگر دوست دارین بیشتر درباره‌ی تاریخ و هنر فرش بدونین، حتماً از راهنمایی ارزشمندشون استفاده کنین. چند تا از فرش‌های جالبی که دیدیم: • فرش شکارگاه صفوی: یه شاهکار از دوره‌ی صفوی که یه صحنه‌ی شکار سلطنتی رو نشون می‌ده. طرحش پر از جزئیات ظریفه؛ از اسب‌های قدرتمند گرفته تا درختای سرسبز و حیواناتی که وسط تعقیب و گریز هستن. این فرش‌ها مخصوص اشراف و دربار بودن و بیشتر جنبه‌ی نمایشی داشتن. • فرش درخت زندگی: یه اثر قاجاری که نماد رشد و جاودانگیه. یه درخت بزرگ با شاخه‌های پر از پرنده که انگار داره قصه‌ی حیات رو روایت می‌کنه. این طرح توی هنر ایرانی خیلی محبوبه و حس آرامش خاصی داره. • فرش محرابی تبریز: این یکی بیشتر برای اماکن مذهبی بافته شده و طرحش شبیه یه محراب قشنگه که بالاش قندیل‌های زیبایی آویزونه. انگار یه دروازه به دنیای معنویت رو به روت باز می‌کنه. • فرش گنبدی کاشان: طرح این فرش از معماری سنتی ایران الهام گرفته شده، یه جورایی شبیه سقف مسجد شیخ لطف‌اللهه. وقتی بهش نگاه می‌کنی، حس عمق و بعد توی نقشش کاملاً مشهوده، انگار که واقعا به یه گنبد خیره شدی. اگه به هنر و تاریخ ایران علاقه دارین، موزه‌ی فرش یه جای فوق‌العاده‌س که حتماً باید ببینین!

I have to write my review from 2 different aspects. First of all, there are very beautiful and worthy carpets in this museum. The carpets talk about our history and culture and they introduce different regions.(5 out of 5) The second aspect is guiding. Unfortunately there is no guide in the museum. There should be someone to inform the visitors about the history behind carpets. But it is worth visiting there actually.
