Highly recommended to make a stop in this great park - very quiet and enjoyable. The park itself is small, but has a few gems and great facilities - outstanding paths with easy access from the car park, an interesting interpretative/visitor centre and (clean) toilets.

Apart from the sites within the park (cairns, wedge tomb, dolmen, dolines/sinkholes, forts), access to Legeelan Loop and the Cavan Way provide a great chance to go through a magnificent forest and enjoy beautiful views of the Cuilcagh mountain. We walked nearly 5kms between the park and the forest.

Although the visitor centre was not manned, access to maps and paths was very easy, and it was extremely informative for children, and adults too.

Don't expect to have the same experience as in the Clare/Galway Burren, but all in all, this was a good surprise and a great morning out.

We had initially planned to go for a walk around the Cuilcagh way; however, the boardwalk seemed extremely popular (the car park was almost packed by 10:40 AM), instead we drove up to Blacklion, and then on to the Cavan Burren which is part of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark... and...

Its Free and if you like to just go on a easy Mountain walk or are into History or Geology then this is a great place to come. Plenty of parking, Disable Toilets, picnic tables and a small educational display which is sheltered but no doors or windows. The paths are well made. Some places it looks like gravel but it must have concrete or something below because the gravel is firm and when the path goes over the peat then it changes to none slip decking boards. There are several tombs and a sink hole to seen in a walk as short as 20 minutes but theres longer walks as well. It could be done in a Wheel Chair or Prams etc. The only bad bit is the road to this place. It is narrow with bits of grass in the middle and quite steep, but still easy enough to do slowly in a car but not so good if you have a Motorhome or Caravan and I wouldn't like to do it in the winter if there was Ice on the road. The gates at the entrance are locked at night time so check the time when you arrive. If the weather is bad then have waterproofs as you are on a mountain and rain likes to...

Been coming to County Cavan to see family for years and did not know this place existed, so glad I found it! If you are into history, geology, nature or just want a scenic walk then you will find it all here. I love anything ancient so the Portal and Wedge tombs here were fantastic, dating from the early Neolithic era. Never knew rocks could be so fascinating though, found the information surrounding the geology of the area just as fascinating. Every where you walk along there are signs of early man or the last ice age. Lots of posts with information to explain what you are looking at. A very well laid out information center is located at the carpark, toilet facilities are available here too. Road to it is narrow but the scenery is very different to much of Cavans usual flat lands. Well worth seeking out and will be returning next year...
