A really lovely find. Great example of a walled garden. I was very surprised to find out it was free to enter. I would have been happy to pay 3-5 euro. A lovely spot with a choice of walks through the woodland. The cost and choice of plants was really very good I would advise advertising further afield. Kilrush has a lot to recommend it but needs facilities like this to attract more to visit. The only duff note is the cafe. For such a natural attraction the choice in the cafe was aimed at being simple and processed. Chips Coke and a poor choice of cakes. To attract more repeat business especially from locals will only require a choice of real homemade cakes and scones. Buy them in like the team in Kilbaha if you dont want to make yourself. Charge slightly less than the 4.50 they do for a slice( we still paid and enjoyed). I only write this as advise rather than outright criticism. It is a lovely spot and would love to see it thrive. We will be back. Also serve good tea and coffee your local market...

A truly beautiful attraction which has undergone massive renovation.

There are extensive pet-friendly trails outside of the garden itself, and these appeared to be popular. Parking was adequate, though the lot was pretty full on the weekend I visited.

The facility appears wheelchair-friendly, with wide doorways and paths. The on-site café offered fresh pastries and cake at reasonable prices. The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly. The toilets were reasonably clean and stocked. The plants, trails, and facilities are very well-cared-for, and it’s obvious the staff are dedicated.

The site is still undergoing some renovation, but as of July 2025 these appeared to be about 80% complete. Some pathways need to be trimmed, and the greenhouse is still a work in progress, but the gardens looked very well cared for.

The overall experience was very positive. There are still a few bumps to smooth out, but this is definitely good for an...

My parents have an annual pass so I visit regularly when Im in Clare. Strongly recommend for any day weather is looking a bit rainy ( or not up for traffic to coast). Never far from shelter and fantastic way to spend a day! Beautiful gardens. Great cafe with great staff, although Brambles took over cafe they have kept original local staff. They are so friendly and brighten everybody's day. Lots of inside and outside seating.

They also sell plants at reasonable prices. New Kilkenny gift shop that also has local pictures has opened on site. Well maintained paths outside grounds through the woods with options for longer or shorter walks. There is a Park run in woods on Saturdays

Annual pass for gardens is only 35 and 10% discount in cafe. Worth it for anyone living or visiting Clare regularly. Everything other than walled garden is free to enter so can still enjoy the rest...

We initially had coffee and cake in the cafe, which was delicious. The area around the coffee shop with the plant sales is beautiful in itself with a colourful planted car on display and a vast variety of plants to buy. We then paid the 7 euros to look around the walled garden and see the exhibition which also had more information about the house that used to be there and was very interesting. The garden itself is very pretty, although my husband is a horticulturist and noted that there were shade loving, sun loving and wet loving plants all in the same borders which wouldn't do well. It's also a shame that the very large greenhouse in the centre of the garden is only used by the gardener as storage. It would look beautiful if used for it's proper purpose. Overall it was a nice visit and worth the money to go in.
