Stunning scenery... Truely hidden Gem... All tourists normally concentrate on the wild Atlantic route,I too did the same mistake last year.. But I spend a whole day here in Lough Na Fooy. Superb scenery, the lake is surrounded by green mountains, it has a sandy shore- Not usually seen on lake shores. Very very shallow water makes it Pets and Kids friendly. Please take some Mosquito/fly repellent creams along with your sun screen lotion.

Really scenic place to find but it's actually hard to find ..one would want to go on a very fine day where there is little wind as it can be quite on the cool side very wind swept part of the world..lack of parking is a big let down and I noticed people parking really badly and literally a bus driver had to get off the bus and wander down to the beach to find the car driver so he could pass.

This is a most picturesque “backwater” of Connemara, I am descended from these native Gaelic speaking sheep farmers!

For anyone travelling here please heed this request, the local County Council makes NO efforts to maintain the cleanliness of the areas used by visitors. It falls to my sister and her neighbours to try and keep the beach clean and safe however if visiting please take any rubbish with you and dispose of it in town centre dumpsters! Otherwise I shall personally block, permanently, any vehicular access...
