The beach is by itself tremendous. But tha small peninsula attached to it is a nature reserve full of wonders in August. I have nevery seen so intense colours of the Mayo nature like this year. That was pure magic and sadly I did "only" spend 2 hours here. Because of all these wonders, I missed the thirs beach and the western wing of this triple beach or better small peninsula. Good hiking shoes are adviseable due it is a very uneven nature reserve. You also have to be careful because certain parts are muddy.

We bumped into this hidden gem along the Wild Atlantic Way on our way to the Connemara not too far from Galway. Una delle distese di sabbia più belle d'Irlanda, Gurteen Bay è una spiaggia di sabbia bianca lunga 1 km sul lato orientale della penisola di Errisberg. La sabbia non è composta dal tradizionale calcare, ma da minuscoli frammenti di conchiglie, che le conferiscono il suo colore bianco puro, mentre la sua posizione sul lato est della baia la rende piuttosto riparata. A soli 200 metri di distanza, dall'altra parte della penisola erbosa, si trova Dog's Bay, composta dalla stessa sabbia bianca brillante.
