Glencar Lough, locally known as Glencar Lake, is a freshwater lake in the northwest of Ireland. It covers an area of 1.15 square kilometres and lies mostly in County Leitrim with a smaller part in County Sligo. Glencar Waterfall is located near the lake's north shore on the Leitrim side.

Glencar lake is beautiful, it stretches over 2 counties, Co.Sligo and Co.Leitrim. At the sligo end near the Glencar Water plant there is a carpark with benches, you will notice here there is a small white sandy beach. What you no longer see is the ruins of the old barytes mine across the road, it is due to this that you have that white sandy beach and you will see the small one stones that use to be mined. Beautiful 😍 on a clear day the lake reflects the mountain and the view is stunning 🗻 there are 2 viewing points by the lake. I prefer the one the the fishermen use as I think the view is a little bit better. The second is by the waterfall and teahouse, it has a small visitors centre and public toilets. Parking and entry to the waterfall are free. I think campers can park there overnight...
