I'm sharing my recent experience with a customer service incident that left me quite horrified. I have visited the Organic Centre numerous times and generally enjoy the place. Last Saturday, I traveled for 1.20 hours to get there, intending to buy some seedlings and have a pleasant day out.
After selecting some seedlings, I went to pay, but as has often happened before, the card machine wouldn't work with my Revolut, PTSB, or AIB cards. There were no apologies or comments from the staff. Anticipating this issue, I had withdrawn some cash from an ATM on my way. My bill came to €11.75, and although I didn't have the exact amount, I handed over €11.80.
As I was leaving, a staff member shouted at me, claiming that the €10 note I had given him looked different from his other €10 notes. Startled and unsure how to respond, I handed him a €20 note instead, but I didn't receive my 5 cents in change. Annoyed, I asked for my change, got it, and left.
In the car, my husband asked what had happened, and when I explained, he examined the €10 note and pointed out it was likely just an older batch, as we had just withdrawn it from an ATM. Determined to clear things up, I returned to the shop within five minutes, asking for a refund on my seedlings and seeds.
Surprisingly, the staff member didn't ask why I wanted a refund. Instead, he guessed the total was €10.50. I corrected him, saying it was €11.75 and reminded him about the earlier incident with the €10 note. He then claimed he never accused me of having false money, just that the note was a different color.
No apologies were made, and the situation was handled very poorly. I went to the bank on Monday, and they confirmed my €10 note was simply an old note from 2002.
I am incredibly disappointed with how the entire situation was handled and felt compelled to share...

Read moreAfter hearing so many people sissy to but seeds here, i decided to drive up.... well.... I'm very disappointed. I know it's spring and not much new planting starting yet, but it was incredibly miserable looking, unkempt and boring, it had about 10 pots outside. it had very little new seeds to choose from. I bought some trail mix and opened it on the way home, and it was fine off and soft. And it was quite expensive. So I know where I won't be...
