A wonderful walk in beautiful scenery. The terrain is quite varied - consisting of an old mining track, narrow footpaths and bog track. Some places are quite wet, so proper walking boots are advised. Dress for all weather, as conditions can change due to it's Atlantic coastal location. Map and compass is not required as the route is exceptionally well waymarked. The walk should be taken in a clockwise direction to take advantage of the wonderful coastal scenery. The last 1km of the walk is over bog land and some care is required. Look out for sharks and whales, depending on the time of year you visit.

Wow an amazing walk with beautiful views starts and finishes at Pattens Bar Takes about 2 1/2 hours Quite steep in places. Well marked route with benches to rest and take in the scenery. You can see Crough Patrick, Clare Island, Achill sound and Atlantic drive. Definitely recommend

Awesome walk. Great views. We only had 90 minutes to do a walk so walked 45” on outbound section and then walked back . Different stunning views in each direction. Heads up - excellent location of picnic table about 35” in with 180 views… wish we had brought a picnic!

Gorgeous hike - one of our most favourite ones... We were surrounded by tons of Heather (which is nice because because my name is Heather) and the most beautiful rocks. This place must've been a quarry - I kept stopping and admiring the quartz, marble and beautiful stones that had a metallic sheen to them. Couldn't help but bring a few home! We didn't see another soul the whole hike, except several sheep. There's a beautiful view of the water. It was moderately difficult.. Not too bad (the very strong wind at the top cooled us off and kept us from sweating too...

Stayed the night in Westport and took a drive here the next day. 1st time to Achill. Found this loop walk on an Achill walking site. 7km, 2½ hours, need a moderate fitness level. The views are stunning. I wore runners, should have taken my hiking boots, you need the extra support and water resistance. Marsh and stoney paths.

Get amazing views over Achill Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean, and if the sun ☀ shines you are in for a...
