We brought our three kids here, age 7, 5 and 3. Hadn't been before. The entry price for family of 5 was reasonable with no time limits on length of stay. It was a wet day unfortunately, the kids managed to kind of enjoy the first section of outdoors animals, but were distracted with the rain. The indoor animals were great, they got to let rabbits and guinea pigs an feed emus, they also got to hold/pet the turtle and lizards. So lots of new experiences for them. They really enjoyed the indoor slides but overall, comparing to other pet farms, the indoor play areas are very small and they got bored quick, which was a shame due to the rain. We then discovered the big covered sand shed and they loved this. Plenty of toys provided for them to play in the sand with. It's in the same area as the fab outdoor playground/obstacle course, so Inbetween showers, the two older kids got a fun around the outdoor play areas. Up behind all of this then we're ducks and geese and all sorts of birds and animals. The rain eased off a bit and we all enjoyed the whole area of animals at the back. There is an old 1850's stone cottage which is like a museum and was fabulous. The kids also enjoyed their 'teleporting' back in time. We couldn't find access to the fairy walk, there was a gate and it seemed blocked off, but it looked fab. The kids were tired at this stage so we got away with not seeing it, but we easily passed 4 hours there with the kids. Plenty of parking. Toilets were located at the front and in the middle of the farm in indoor play area. They toilets were clean. Snacks/drinks/memorabilia were available to purchase at the entrance. I did notice a restaurant but we didn't eat there so I can't comment. Overall, the kids loved it. We have been to a lot of let farms and to Dublin zoo, but they got great feel for and interaction with some different animals here compared to other places. I would defo bring them...
Read moreMy parents used to bring me 30+ years ago, and so we brought my son for his first time today along with my Mam. Much has changed of course since the last time we visited in the early 90s, and we had a really lovely day. The admission price was reasonable for 3 adults and 1 child, as were the cafe prices too! (My Mam said it was proper tea, the sandwiches were made to order with actual ham and well filled, they were generous with ice cream portions too) The staff were friendly, the animals looked well kept, pens were clean, and aside from one dramatic bird up near the meerkats (who we thought was not long for this world… but in fact was just lying oddly in the sun until disturbed), we enjoyed everything. It’s encouraged to bring your own picnic (most places won’t allow it), the little handwash sinks at an accessible height for kids, the gated spaces to keep both kids and animals safe, as well as signage as to who to feed and who will bite, made it such an easy day. My only gripe? The fairy trail was a bit lacklustre, with some doors in need of a bit of TLC, and not a lot to see along the walk otherwise - perhaps signs of what native plants and trees are growing in the hedgerows, and some info on the various pieces of farm machinery dotted along the way would be good? We cannot wait to go back - we won’t leave it...
Read moreWe visited Glendeer Farm Park last Saturday 6th Sep 14in a group 6 adults 1 child and 2x1 yr olds.We had been told it was good and read good reviews about it .Frankly we were dissappointed. The bird cages looked very dirty and they had obviously not been cleaned out recently. There were 2 puppies in an inside pen just left there for any and every child to handle without any staff member on hand.Someone had vomited in the inside slide area and that had not been noticed or dealt with by staff in a 2 hour period, which should have happened if any staff had been supervising. The toilet off the coffee shop was lacking toilet paper yet there were 3 young girls behind the counter serving and it was very quiet . It did have a nice playground area and thought had been put into that but again no staff member about.Only time we noticed any staff outside was at 5.50pm when a young girl started to shut the doors to the inside areas. we will not be visiting again or recommending Glendeer to...
