Drumcliffe Church, located in County Sligo, Ireland, is a beautiful and historic church that is best known as the final resting place of the renowned poet W.B. Yeats. The church and its grounds are steeped in history, offering visitors a glimpse into Ireland's rich cultural heritage.

The church itself is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, with beautiful stained glass windows and a peaceful, serene atmosphere. The churchyard is also home to the graves of several notable figures from Irish history, including Yeats' parents and his brother.

The highlight of the visit, however, is Yeats' grave, which is marked by a simple but elegant headstone that bears one of his most famous poems, "Under Ben Bulben." The gravesite is a popular destination for literature lovers and admirers of Yeats' work, who come from all over the world to pay their respects.

The church also offers guided tours that provide a fascinating insight into the life and work of Yeats, as well as the history of the church and its role in Irish culture. Visitors can also browse the small gift shop, which offers a selection of books, souvenirs, and other items related to Yeats and Irish literature.

Overall, Drumcliffe Church and W.B. Yeats' Grave are a must-see attraction for anyone visiting County Sligo. The site offers a unique and unforgettable experience, showcasing the rich history and cultural...

Famous because it's the final resting place of One of Ireland's finest literary scholars,I had passed here many times and never stopped and visited his grave, with it's famous inscription. But I'm really glad I have now, it's a special place beautyfuly kept and maintained by the local parishioners and the Church is a fabulous example of this type of Church of Ireland place of worship. There are many of these around the country that were built over 200 years ago and are now sadly in ruin, Drumcliffe is warm and cosy with beautiful historical features detailing some of the history of the people who have been lucky enough to live in this fabulous area around Sligo. Don't pass bye as W B Yates said call in and visit you will be...

As a student of english literature, I was interested in Yeats and his grave as well, so of course we stopped there and had a look.

There’s a statue in front which looks really interesting, and then we headed onto the graveyard, but didn’t manage to find his grave, so we headed into the church and had a look there. There’s a nice café and tourist shop neaby, and although it isn’t exactly cheap, it looks really nice and the atmosphere is lovely.

After a sign pointed us to Yeat’s grave, I have to admit that I was initially disappointed – I had expected something bigger, but then again: he was just a normal person, so this standard grave is...

Had a wonderful and relaxing time. I love Yeats and I wanted to pay my respects while I was here in Ireland. I wasn’t originally planning a tour, I was going to just visit the grave, read a bit, and have a coffee. I met James who told me a little about the history of the church and gave me a audio tour to listen to. It’s amazing how much history is packed into this place. Not only that but the church itself is quite nice and just off in the distance there is a great view of Benbulbin. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Irish history and culture and anyone who loves Yeats.
