I was looking for somewhere local to go fishing on a boat and spotted Derrymore Springs on google search. Despite living half an hour away I never heard of it before and I'm so glad to have found it now.
It's an absolutely fabulous spot for kayaking, peddle boating, fishing (catch and release) and forest walks. There are changing rooms, a clean toilet block, covered eating area, picnic benches and lots of little benches dotted around to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The grounds are spotlessly clean, well maintained and there's ample parking.
You can hire everything including fishing rods at very reasonable prices. We (4 adults, 1 child) decided to hire peddle boats (life jackets included) and fishing rods, despite not catching anything we still had a fantastic time. Also to note two of us don't like the water and can't swim but managed the peddle boats just fine.

Staff are relaxed and just seem happy to be there which...
