Lough Owel (Irish: Loch Uail) is a mesotrophic lough in the Midlands of Ireland, situated north of Mullingar, the county town of Westmeath. It has a maximum depth of 22m. Water from Lough Owel feeds the Royal canal , its a beautiful place to visit , the scenery is amazing .

Twice I passed from there, so finally got a chance and stopped there. We had a different plan in Sligo but when we stopped here we forgot about everything, our planned trip our lunch π. This place is cool, calm and same time so full of colors & serene.

One of the most beautiful places in Mullingar to come, relax and unwind!! You will find people going for a swim or a dip as well. A perfect place for a family picnic or sometime with your partner or for having your me-time alone.

Great place to take a break off the N4. Car park is easily accessible and only a couple of 100 metres to the Lough edge (steep stairs though if you have any mobility issues). Lough was clean for swimming when we were there.

An absolutely beautiful placeβ€οΈπ Pure water. There is a tower to jump into the water πββοΈ If you are traveling with children, it is better to wear crocs - a lot of stones. People leave a lot of trash... It is very sad ((

Peace and Tranquil. Lots of wildlife. Great photography opportunities, wildlife, sunset, sunrises. Popular with boating, fishing, kayaking and swimming. High diving board and boat mooring pond.

Lough Owel is a mesotrophic lough in the Midlands of Ireland, situated north of Mullingar, the county town of Westmeath. It has a maximum depth of 21 metres. Water from Lough Owel feeds the Royal Canal, a canal crossing Ireland from Dublin to the River Shannon. The lake is close to the N4 primary road.
