A great asset to the locality. Very well maintained grounds with great facilities for a cheap family day out. We brought a picnic and used the tables provided. There is a lovely cafe with dine in or out options. They sell a lot of items with home grown ingredients from the garden on the grounds which is very cool. The castle itself is very small but a great piece of history to have on the grounds. There is a playground and a visitors centre onsite too so a lot of entertainment for the...

Leif, the guide, is a gem!!! We stopped by for a coffee and noticed signs for free guided tours into Ashton Castle. Had a short browse around the inspiring Quilt exhibition while we waited for the tour. Leif was fantastic and a font of information about the dappled history of Ashton and so many other associated aspects of the park and its environs. He has a super delivery and sense of humour and answered all our questions. Make sure you ask for Leif and take the tour...you'll be...

Great place or bring the dog, quiet enough area where lots of people have their dogs of the leash, which is great because it means you don’t have to have your dog trapped beside you all the time. Dog loves it here. Some walking-trails are extremely muddy 😤 some ground patches just like muddy slush which is the only downfall, can be hard to walk on especially for the elderly too. Just be careful for me I think it’s best to walk on the misty grass rather...

I was here for the honey show and biodiversity weekend. It was a lovely day on Sat but the light blowy rain arrived on Sunday morn. Most events were inside so not a major problem really but it is hard to find shelter for everyone at the same time! It is a super well run event and particularly good to let the younger ones see “behind the scenes” of mother nature!

Pretty park area. Excellent place to relax and unwind from the busy streets of Dublin. You can easily get there via your own transportation, TFI bus to stop 8203, or an Uber. While you’re at Ashtown Castle don’t forget to visit the Victorian Kitchen Garden.
