Wasnt too happy with the place, kinda rubbed the wrong way from the start just trying to find the place. For starters they are completely cashless yet their lockers require a 1 euro coin, so had to go away to get a 1 euro coin. The lockers themselves are in a poor state of disrepair with many out of order and quite a few keys have broken buckles so there's a good chance of you losing your key in the pool. The lockeroom is beside the pool and a tiny cramped area that you will be queing up in, the changing cubicles are very few in number and very small if you are trying to change with a child, the showers are also small and few so there will be que for them as well. There are giant drying machines that aren't working that take up a lot of space though. My kid and I were brought out of the pool because we didn't have swimming caps which is apparently a thing and I must have missed it somewhere in the terms and conditions, so we had to walk up to reception in our towels to get caps, then were told we had to pay €5.00 so went back to the locker and got €5.00 only to be told of course they are cashless and had to go back. I'm sure the swimming cap thing has something to do with hygiene rules in the pool, if that's the case I don't know why they bother as there's a clear ring of limescale or something along the tiles like it could use a whole lot of mister muscle cleaner. There appears to be in places whole sandbanks of dirt on the floor of the pool area. There's also rusting metal grates by the pool. Might be the dirtiest pool I was ever in. For some reason you have to go around to the back door and que outside under a canopy as well. My Kid had an ok time though and that's all that matters. The slides and waves were enjoyed by my kid. Theres also a surfing thing for older kids. The place needs some major investment, redesign and revamp after all its in Dublin City, it should be comparable with any similar place in England. I can though endorse Lagan Lesure plex in Lisburn. Its of similar size, it has more and better slides, more fun for kids, its clean, the staff are friendly...
Read moreThe number one thing that comes to mind following a visit here for Easter holidays is hygiene. The bathrooms, changing rooms and pool leave alot to be desired. Having being closed for lockdown and a few winter seasons, it appears only the windows and rubber/foam mat along the perimeter of the pool was updated. A big refurbishment is in dire need. Since going cashless, they have not updated their lockers, hairdryers or family body dryers and coins are required but not supplied onsite. Also, 5 out of 6 hairdryers in the reception are were not working. On the otherside of the building are the change rooms for the swimming pool goers (membership) and they seem to be kept much cleaner with free to use hairdryers. I'm unsure when aquazone customers are paying so much for a swim session, they also have to pay for hairdryers/lockers etc ... unlike the swimming pool goers? Aquazone customers must walk around the back of the building and enter via the tent to gain entry. Previously they could enter at the main reception as with the swimming pool members. As a parent, I exited the barriers at reception to access the cafe (where you used to be able to go the watch the kids swimming) and the reception staff made a huge deal when I asked to regain entry to the changerooms to pickup the kids. Apparently there is a one exit rule and I found the staff member very unfriendly. The kids 11 & 12 yrs went around the lazy river once (its a bit under whelming) and spent most of their time queing for the slides. The wave pool I believe goes off every 30 mins or so which means you might have an opportunity to experience this up to 3 times during your 2 hour session if you get the timing right. I'd love to see aquazone update the facilities in the pool and changerooms as well as working on having the changerooms and toilets cleaned regularly throughout each session. They charge €16-€18 per person and allow 200 pax per session (do the math) ... And if your going cashless, please update the...
Read moreNot bad. We visited on 28-Dec., Saturday. You must book online in advance but you can book even same day. Swim hats are mandatory, but you can buy them there. The entrace was not where you'd expect it but all around the building, quite far from the car park. Each session lasts 2 hours, we went for the first session at 10 am sharp. Changing room cabins are really small (1 person fits only really) and the door opens inwards so almost impossible to close/open once you are inside. You need a 1 euro coin or trolley token to use the lockers. The whole place is pretty compact, easy to understand/see everything from any one standpoint. This is a kids entertainment venue, don't take anything with you from the changing room just maybe slippers for the toilets. No need towels, bags, nothing,.. there is nowhere to hang anything anyway, not even anywhere to sit. The water in the pools is a pleasant 31°C. The air in the dome is about 22-23°C. Once you have been to the water and just standing wet outside you might feel a little cold, but it's not bad at all, just it'd be nicer if it was just 1 or 2 degrees warmer. The changing room is same 22°C BUT only when sessions start or finish... we visited the changing room half way through our session and it was 19°C, so who says the changing room is freezing is probably right but they probably arrived late for their slot. Be on time and it will be nice! The slides are good, even my 6 year old could use it alone with a floating tube that you get at the bottom of the slides. One slide was out of order. Lazy river is quite lazy. The wave pool is nice, goes about every 20 mins for 5 mins each time. The start and finish is marked with a very short siren sound. All in all it's been a great experience, the little one loved it. I'd give 5 star if changing cabins were bigger. I recommend the 10am session, the next session (12.00) seemed much busier, but only really matters from the slides perspective as you'll definitely have to queue...
