Take the long way and go off the path to find some hidden gems.
Take a picnic to have on the hill.
How much time you spend there is up to you. You could have an entire day there or do a lap. Stop in the far car park for ice-cream.
For a longer walk park at the harbor and walk up the hill to the head. If taking kids this way take extra things to eat drink as complaining will come on the way back.

Parking is free and almost always available. Beautiful paths on the cliff but not good for children because of uneven paths and dangerous bends.

Read moreStunning scenary! You can walk there quickly from Howth Station or get 5min close by car, too. Outgoing are multiple hiking paths through the Isle of Howth, which are not that challenging (longest takes ~3h), and have pretty terrain. Of you're not in a hiking mood, this spot alone is worth the short 30min walk from the station. One of my favourite go-to spots in and around Dublin, have been here every time I visited and will very much continue doing so
