Spectacular stretch of sand, rocks and mini hills that taps deep into your feels. There are many different ways to soak in the mesmerising views that this area graces us with. If you want to gaze away from your car, there's an abundance of space and scenery to take you deeper into your thoughts as you sleep whilst the sun shines into your life. You can also walk and go out on a family day when the tide isn't high. Lots of soft sand for you and your children to play around with. This is a must visit area if you want to get away from the busy city.

Now, you will be met with a big sign warning you not to go past the barriers put in place for you to walk on to the hill. One advice, you have one life, break rules and don't look back. As soon as you reach the horizon, you will be absolutely pleased you were a rebel. The view from here is so breathtaking as you get a 360 panoramic view of the stretch of beach, leading into views of the city from afar. Mind yourself as you get to the top because there have been reports of people falling off the edge because the soil is soft making it unstable.

You can then walk down the opposite side which leads into another area close to the shore with some rocks covered with sea weed on the border. It is a perfect place to go walking with your dog, a partner or by yourself to clear your head.

Once you decide to leave, make sure you say hello to the cows who will be waiting as you drive off to say hello and don't eat...

Silverstrand Beach in Galway offers breathtaking natural beauty, with its pristine sands and stunning views. The beach itself is exceptionally clean, which adds to its charm.

However, my visits here have been slightly marred by some maintenance issues. The most inconvenient problem is the consistent closure of the toilets. For a spot that attracts tourists and families, accessible and clean restroom facilities are essential. Unfortunately, this has been a persistent issue, making it quite inconvenient for visitors.

Additionally, I've noticed that the bins are often full and overflowing. Proper maintenance of waste disposal facilities is crucial to preserving the natural beauty of this location and ensuring a pleasant experience for all. It's disheartening to see such a picturesque spot affected by litter due to this issue.

Silverstrand Beach has immense potential to be a fantastic tourist destination, but these maintenance shortcomings can detract from its appeal. I hope that the local authorities or management take note of these concerns and take steps to improve the facilities. With some attention to these issues, this beautiful spot could truly shine and offer an even better experience...

Silverstrand faces directly into Galway Bay providing beautiful views overlooking the burren for visitors. It is located on the outskirts of Galway City and is approximately 0.25km in length. Facilities include a car park, toilets and a picnic area. There is also wheelchair access to the beach. The beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season and more information can be found on the notice board located at the beach. This beach has been dual awarded, achieving the International Blue Flag and Green Coast Award...

Clean toilets which is such a bonus for any beach. Toilets actually had toilet paper. Each gender bathroom has a tap just outside it to clean off sand, etc. Beach was very clean. We arrived in the late morning so the water was nice and shallow perfect for younger kids for a dip. Right now it seems the beach is slightly infested with some sort of little orange critters, best to set up away from them.

Very small beach but absolutely wonderful. The sand was lovely. The waves were great and the view fantastic. My puppy had a great time there. Dogs allowed once on a leash. Kids playing. People walking up and down beach and a glorious day. I will definitely be going back there again. I had great fun. It really is a little gem of a place. If you are in Galway pay it a visit you won't be disappointed.
