Have visited three times. The first time a very pleasant experience although the cost of the entrance fee (which is steep if there’s four of you) was not clearly advertised on the main road. This was in the Spring and the Waterfall was beautiful. The second time was not so good, the bridges had fell into disrepair and obviously the entrance fee was of more interest to the owners than the facilities they claim to upkeep with the charge. The third visit confirmed my thoughts on the second as I was merely showing a relative from the USA the waterfall (please note the waterfall in the summer is usually a trickle at best). He has severe breathing and walking difficulties, is 85 and making what was his last trip to Kerry. After two previous visits and stopping briefly on the car park for him to take in the view, I personally felt no harm in using the car park to turn around, only to be reprimanded by the owner who was both rude and aggressive in her demeanour. Following an explanation of my relatives condition and that we were just turning around the attitude did not change in anyway whatsoever. I’ve also heard of people making the long journey down to the park unaware of the costs, the inability to take ‘free’ photos from the owners road, or wanting to turn around in the car park, also facing a similar experience, having to still pay the fee! There are even reports of being chased by the owners husband and treated to the same verbal abuse. Personally, the view of the waterfall from the stone circle is enough, with a voluntary contribution to help the upkeep of this important monument the only charge. I gladly popped my 7 Euro in their box instead! We will see what comments come from the owner with this review, but the claim of private property doesn’t wash as nobody owns a view, a sign on the entrance that you cannot enter the car park without being charged wouldn’t go amiss. A clear sign of a charge to enter the park on the main road would also not go amiss. Up to you, if you think it worth the money after being told clearly of the charge ‘before’ you enter from the main road down to the park and again a warning ‘before’ entering the car park itself, you can make an informed decision. I’d rather give my cash to more deserving projects or charity. I won’t be contributing to the...

It was a nice drive for us coming from mid Kerry venturing up through the mountainous roads to cross over in to Kenmare that was an adventure in itself, the destination of the day was the Gleninchaquin park we had heard so much wonderful things about the place we had to check it off our places to go, the road in from the main road is quite narrow drive slowly you will get there in one piece and get a chance to admire the scenery, absolutely stunning place it feels like you are driving to the end of the earth, on arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from I’m guessing the landlady, we got advice on the best route for our abilities (3 kids under 10 plus mom ) so that was nice to talk to someone about the routes & best place to park ,there is a clean toilet near by the first car park a essential facility after a long journey, the place it’s self is a hidden gem with walks and hikes full of wonder ,overflowing with greenery nature , abundance of paths and trails to follow , the water fall is mesmerising nice to sit down on the wooden seats or on the grass have a picnic , my kids loved climbing around the rocks in the area , we didn’t do all of the red route as little legs wouldn’t permit on such a hot day we did a little and went and did the river walk which was fun and easy for kids we had a great few hours in the park i highly recommend it , I would think it would be a nice place for a couples or friends hiking weekend i would love to stay in kenmare at some stage and do the longer routes really spectacular place Highly recommend a must go if in the area , a small charge on admission , they only except cash as phone signal is non...

First of all: the people are very friendly and the hiking routes are very well marked and also very beautiful.

Of course the owners comes out when you park the car there and ask for the money for entry. But do you have thinking about it that there were built bridges, handrails and stairways made of solid stones, which need to be maintained and repaired. Also, I didn't see any litter, which is often the case in Ireland. And the operators probably have to take out expensive insurance, as is normal for such parks in Ireland.

That the road is narrow, yes that's true: But hey, if you can’t drive on a narrow road please give back your driver's license. It's safer for all of us. Several cars came towards me. Then you just go backwards or drive over the banquette if possible. Otherwise go to Dublin, there is a motorway for novice drivers.

And people who complain about the waterfall for not being big: folks, this is pure nature. There is no tap that you can just turn on when a strange tourist comes along and is thinking the water is supposed to fall en masse for him. But I think if he wait for rain and goes after in this Park, the routes will be to slippery for him/her and he is blustering again.

Nice Park. We will visit it again next time we are in Ireland. Greetings from...

Can’t recommend this park highly enough. It’s a real hidden gem that we didn’t want to leave. It’s on my bucket list to return as much as possible. Actually can I just move in
What you need to know? It’s 7km off the main road down a narrow road with some blind bends. There are lots of spots to pull over if you meet another car. It’s on private property with a €7 entry fee payable in cash. Don’t be a stingy and try to avoid paying. It’s well worth it. Promise. The walks are amazing. You feel alone at the end of the world. Just yourself and nature. Not all the walks are accessible so chat to Sean or Eileen to get some advice on what’s best for you. We did the river walk which was a 40 minute return over tree roots and natural steps. We also walked up to the lake which is stunning before completing the heritage walk a loop which takes you across the valley to the abandoned ruins. You cross the bridges at the waterfall then it’s a country road up to the lake, it’s a bit steep in spots. The heritage walk takes you across fields, through natural forest etc. Next time we’ll go over the waterfall. The base of the waterfall would have been perfect for a picnic if we were organised.
