We were on a family vacation in Ireland( living in Killorgin for a week) and we happened to stop by a family run cafe with an old creamery by the side. I must say the owners were one of the warmest family I have come across during my travels to many other cities and countries. Hospitality besides, the food and coffee was delicious. You have to try the banoffee pie for sure! I would highly recommend this place especially for families with young children. They will get to pet many farm animals..rabbits, dogs, cats..there is a peacock and Mr Piggy too! At a very nominal charge, you not only get to have a close encounter with the animals but also get to know the history behind the running of this old creamery. Well preserved machines and equipment, original record books all on display. The owner took us around and explained the history with many interesting details. Not to forget to mention an attractive farm theme playground area is set up for young kids. My kids had an extremely fun and informative experience. Will go back for someore homemade desserts before I...
Read moreA little disappointed about our visit at The Kerry Creamery Experience. The owner is really friendly and passionate but I think they can put more effort. We did the tour, (btw on the website it was written 6€ but we paid 7€ each), interesting but it’s not a real creamery experience. She explain the process of making butter, and how simply it is, then we chilled in the tea room to enjoy some food and drinks, but surprised to discover that the scone came with industrial butter, and industrial jam. Same, on the website it’s written “handmade jam” but as you can see on my picture, it’s not. So I feel a little scammed. The scone was good, but nothing special. We wanted to enjoy an ice cream, since apparently it’s the place to be for that, with fresh cream, but once again not homemade ice cream 🥲 Regarding the website, we expect more animals, like a pig and a cow but they don’t exist. I think a little update on the website would be great! And maybe a glass of fresh milk our tasting homemade butter at the end...
Read moreAbsolute gem of a place! We've visited this area of kerry for 7 years now and it always has something new to offer. The Kerry Creamery experience was definitely this year's big discovery - a lovely trip down memory lane, enjoyed by everyone in our group from 91 years old to 9 years old, both educational and fun. The Creamery was the hub of local rural life for decades, and the kids were fascinated by the story of handmilking and buttermaking. The staff were really friendly and obviously had a deep authentic appreciation of the history behind the place. There are animals including chickens, goats, peacocks and outside in the carpark we made friends with a donkey. There's a tea rooms with top notch cakes - my youngest declared his chocolate muffin "better than icecream" - and an array of very pretty delph. It's only ten minutes or so from Killorglin, on a decent country road. Easily accessible from Tralee and Killarney and well...
