A great beach if you like peace and quiet, and much easier to let your dog off the lead here as there's fewer people milling about. It's connected to the much busier Bettystown beach in case you prefer the livelier beach. Horses are allowed here during certain parts of the day, and if you time it right, you can wade through the water for a brisk swim without having to traverse any rocky portions...
Read moreLaytown is an incredible beach, tide in or out depending what you want. There are amenities, sand toy box, toilets coffee shop, small supermarket and great parking.
However, where the river joins the sea it is a ROUGH swim. It's not recommended for kids and adults need to be careful when the tide is in.
For kids there lots of small fish, prawns and crabs... We've had great fun...
