It is located in the townland of Latlurcan, Monaghan town in the ecclesiastical parish of Monaghan and Rackwallace. It was built between the years of 1861 and 1893 and is the only Catholic cathedral in the county.

Another fantastic example of neogothic in Ireland. The setting and the grounds are beautiful, though it is a little of an anti climax upon entering as the newish interior clashes heavily with the old.

Impressive cathedral high on a hill with fabulous views of surrounding area. Lots of stained glass. I thought it was worth a visit and it didnt let me down.
