This is a fairly short but challenging hike as it's a pretty steep climb. Experienced hikers could climb it in 50mins or so. For those of us who get out of breath climbing it might take a little longer It's a very straightforward climb and can be done with runners but I would always recommend walking shoes or boots. It just makes for a more comfortable hike on mountain terrain. Watch out for the weather. It can change the higher you go and can become windy and wet due to cloud cover even on what appears to be a lovely day. Always pack wet gear and water. If you decide to do this walk, don't give up, take your time and savour the scenery. It's well worth it to get to the top of Slievenamon for the stunning views. And it's in the Premier...

Firstly, if coming from callan direction then Google maps is going to take you to the right road but drop you a bit early. Just keep going for about five minutes. I have put up pics of exactly what the pull in looks like. You can't miss it. If you're not sure then you're not in the right place. The walk itself is upsy. Make no mistake. It is a steep climb. My five year old made it up. Once at the top it is as if the whole world is a fish bowl and you are a disembodied head floating...

Very enjoyable beautiful views 360 on a clear day ..hiking boots a must...

A fantastic hike with beautiful views throughout. Allow yourself 2hrs up and 1 hrs down to have plenty of time to enjoy the views and grab pics. Make sure to look up the folklore around this beautiful mountain also, especially how a particular bride was chosen by the king of Ireland! Ask Google! 😁
