I’m from Wexford and I can see the mountain from my childhood window! I never went for a walk here (unbelievable for a person who loves hiking!) until yesterday- so beautiful- I will surely become a regular! The lake is tranquil- because it is a quarry lake the water is still. Watching the sun set over the water with a perfectly still reflection of the trees on the far side of the lake while chatting with friends is a great way to spend an evening! Read moreLovely spot with nice walking trails which are dog friendly. If you go to the 1798 memorial, there is a climb up a hill that may take some people a little bit more time to get up. Also, there are picnic benches, by the car park, and a spot to grab a coffee and snacks but bring water if it's a warm day. The quarry is beautiful against the backdrop of stone that has pink hues (no swimming is permitted). The one disappointing thing we encountered on the trails was how many people failed to clean up after their dogs...
