Commuted from Portlaoise towards Mountrath, travelled through the Slieve Bloom Mountains and what a wonderful drive and views up that way, we then got to Kinnity which was a very small town, loads of character around this area, we then drove down the road to park up beside a church, a small walk through the church then up the hill to the Bernard family pyramid dating back over 200 years. The reviews say it's not worth a visit but defo worth the experience... lovely views, interesting architecture design and a nice paet of Ireland.

After all how often do you see a pyramid in Ireland.. when you reach the top of where this pyramid /tomb is situated the views of Kinnitty and surrounding areas uz breathtaking. Situated at the back of the Protestant Chruch it is hard for wheelchair users. An old graveyard with sheep roaming though ,verification that the old romantic Ireland has a place in modern day society.... The people are friendly,welcoming and full of local history. . Free of charge, easy to find. Just look for the church and you'll see a sign pointing to the pyramid. There also a sign of the side of the pyramid explaining its history.
It's easy to access. Low mobility people need to know there are three/four steps when entering the church area and the way to the pyramid has some gravel as you can see by the photos.
Great place for photography especially at sunset!! The irish landscape surrounding the pyramid makes up for a very unique image ❤️
