Commuted from Portlaoise towards Mountrath, travelled through the Slieve Bloom Mountains and what a wonderful drive and views up that way, we then got to Kinnity which was a very small town, loads of character around this area, we then drove down the road to park up beside a church, a small walk through the church then up the hill to the Bernard family pyramid dating back over 200 years. The reviews say it's not worth a visit but defo worth the experience... lovely views, interesting architecture design and a nice paet of Ireland. Up the road there is Kinnity Castle Hotel and grounds with parking available and a lovely walk down the river bank, and the Kinnity Cross dating back almost a thousand years.

It's a lovely spot in Kinnity, go check it if you happen to be passing by this village. Free of charge, easy to find. Just look for the church and you'll see a sign pointing to the pyramid. There also a sign of the side of the pyramid explaining its history. It's easy to access. Low mobility people need to know there are three/four steps when entering the church area and the way to the pyramid has some gravel as you can see by the photos. Great place for photography especially at sunset!! The irish landscape surrounding the pyramid makes up for a very unique image ❤️ There is coffee shop and a pub nearby. Recommended!

A really nice location, it has excellent parking across the road from the entrance. The church at the entrance has some lovely colored stone walls and a charming walk up to the pyramid. The Pyramid says its the only one in Ireland but I have photographed another pyramid in Arklow Co Wicklow and as far as I know these are the only two in Ireland. It is fantastic as its so different from what you see scattered all around rural Ireland. I really enjoyed the views over the town from up at the summit of the pyramid and its certainly different and well worth a visit, cheers

As you entered here , there us a sign with all the information with regards this pyramid... After all how often do you see a pyramid in Ireland.. when you reach the top of where this pyramid /tomb is situated the views of Kinnitty and surrounding areas uz breathtaking. Situated at the back of the Protestant Chruch it is hard for wheelchair users. An old graveyard with sheep roaming though ,verification that the old romantic Ireland has a place in modern day society.... The people are friendly, welcoming and full of local history. . Not too far from Kinnitty castle and the local pubs so somewhere to go for something to eat.. A truly...
