Donadea Castle and forest park is just 6 or 7km off the M4, and a stone's throw from Dublin. There is ample parking, however be warned it's 5 euro to park and they only take coins.

The car park is basically beside the castle and cafe, and all the paths we found were buggy and wheelchair accessible. There are no paper maps available so snap a picture of the map at the entrance.

The castle itself is sealed off due to bring in poor repair, however it is still very impressive. There are a number of walks for all levels described on the sign. The nature walk is signposted and even has a giant red wood. There is a nice circular walk taking in the lake also.

The cafe is small but serves nice coffee and snacks. We had no cash and the lady wrote us an IOU!!! Very friendly and trusting - 10/10 and I'll be back to pay my debt! Great place to enjoy a morning...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Donadea Forest Park – Kildare’s Woodland Gem

Donadea Forest Park is one of those places that never disappoints. Whether you’re out for a peaceful walk, bringing the kids to explore, or just fancy a bit of fresh air, it’s always a fantastic day out.

There’s a beautiful lake right in the middle of the grounds, perfect for a stroll or just sitting and taking in the views. The trails are easy to follow and suit all ages, making it a great spot for families.

On a sunny day, there are few places nicer — plenty of space, lovely scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere. And if you’re feeling peckish, there’s even a handy café on site for a coffee or snack.

Highly recommend spending a few hours here. A real hidden...

The castle is located in lovely large grounds grounds with nice walks. The castle itself is not accessible and is nothing outstanding. Its has great potential but it needs someone with a vision of what it could be rather than the sorry state its in. There are hundreds of sites exactly like this one crying out for someone to unveil their potential. It does have good parking, a beautiful, stone entrance and a nice church to its...

Great place for a walk, large car park, gate very well hidden from the road could use a sign but I guess that is the charm, no info boards and buildings are closed off, big yard behind the mansion would be great to see the back of the building and the estate behind it
