Visited the Kildare Maze this afternoon with a small group (three adults and one child), and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was my first time there, and I was impressed by how well-kept and inviting the grounds were—lovely lawns, clean surroundings, and a peaceful setting overall.
The main attraction, the large hedge maze, was both fun and challenging. As someone who enjoys a methodical approach, I stuck to the "always turn left" rule and managed to find the way through without too much trouble. It took our group around 25 minutes to complete the maze together—though I ran it again solo in 5 minutes and 18 seconds, just for fun.
That said, the difficulty level might be a bit much for younger children—my 7-year-old nephew found it tough and got frustrated at times. One suggestion might be to add a few interactive elements or checkpoints inside the maze to keep kids more engaged as they go.
Besides the main maze, there’s a second maze made of wood (which we didn’t have time for), a small zip line, nine holes of crazy golf, and some additional play equipment for children—making it a great spot for a family afternoon out.
Staff at the entrance were friendly, and the entry fee was very reasonable. Overall, I’d highly recommend Kildare Maze to anyone looking for a wholesome outdoor activity that offers a bit of a mental workout. Just be prepared to do...
Read moreThe maze is quite large which is what makes it worth while (more on the maze below), there is also mini putting, a mini wooden maze where you have to get 8 stamps which is really easy, a playground for kids and a small children's obstacle course. The mini putting is ok, 9 holes with nothing really special, just greens with some bumps and blockers. The playground is fun for the kids but you can get that at any park, while the obstacle course is fun but for children from 5 to 12 about. For the price, €8 for adults and €6 for kids, though you can pass a few hours there so it is worth it, but likely not something you will go to more then once. The main attraction, the large maze [small spoiler warning] is good because it is large but has some issues. There are tunnels between the hedges that really look like paths and should be marked as shortcuts since you don't need to go through them to complete it and thus you should avoid them. Also there is a clearly laid path in many parts which kind of makes dead ends obvious and there are a lot of dead ends which is less complicated than interconnected paths. The dead ends and the fact that areas are easily identified makes it less hard, I've been in smaller mazes that are better, but still the size alone makes it...
Read moreThis is always great fun- even when the weather turns! One massive hedge maze (though it needed clipping the last time we were here) and a wood maze where you have to clamp all your numbers on the paper like a bingo card. There’s a small playground there with a fabulous sandpit, a few sheep and it looks like they’re growing another hedge maze. We go here twice a year easily. The mini golf is a must as well and at no extra charge! I hope they power hose the game just outside the shop as my eldest loves to solve it while I’m grabbing us a cup of tea to take around- €3 for two large teas! Classic low prices, can’t go wrong. Good parking. The staff are always lovely and friendly too. They clearly care about the families enjoying themselves and look after the place like a quality, family-run business. There’s no online discount but the price for entry is so low as it is and it’s rarely full (in my experience but I go early) so you’re good to book in advance or when you go in. I’d say as a courtesy for staffing the place, book in advance. It’s super easy,...
