The forest is a natural continuation along the Mahon river, replacing the mountainous valley with the Mahon waterfall. A wonderful walk on a spring day among the blossoms. The first surprise was at the beginning of the path at the sight of the ruins of a mill on the opposite bank of the river. The paved path along the river sometimes rises up, then smoothly runs down...

Great walk along river, good pathway and very beautiful. Opposite Crough cafe (which is a great place to get something to eat/drink) is a good sized car park and there is an entrance to the wood walk just next to Mahon Bridge. Takes 1-2hours depending on how fast you walk and often you stop to take photos or relax by the river!...

If you feel like extending your hike to Mahon Falls, Crough (pronounced "crew") Woods is the perfect place to start. There is a lovely walk along the River Mahon up towards the falls. Crough wood is just amazing, the path starts from Mahon bridge and the first thing I saw was the old water mill dated back in 1650. Great scenic landscape during the path, walking until Mahon falls. Hiking here is always nice, concealed paths are also attractive to explore but beware of slippery rocks!
