We were actually on the way to Blackrock in Co Louth, but never managed to get there because of the bike race. This is how we ended at the Stephenstown pond. The pond itself isn't very big, so an ideal walk, if you're not the greatest walker around. The path is easy to walk on and perfect for wheelchairs. Plenty of benches around for resting among amazing trees and listening to hundreds of birds. The minders take great care of the wildlife in that park. Near the carpark is also well placed a playground, a coffee shop and toilets. You can sit inside or outside the coffee shop. The people who run it are really nice, people were all relaxed and happy. The multiple picnic tables made me sorry I hadn't brought anything to sit and eat, surrounded by the nature scenes around me.
Loses a star because of the closed facilities which don't seem to open during the week. It took us about 15 minutes to walk around and take some pictures, but once the short walk is done, there's nothing else to do if the cafe is shut. Signs seemed to suggest they were open at weekends.

Great for warming up or getting some ice cream. Staff is absolutely lovely every time. Pond path is a bit damaged and parts have been isolated to avoid hazards but the walk is still very enjoyable and safe with supervision required. 2 euro car park charges. But the staff will give you a token if you're without change whether you had food or not. Overall a routine place to walk...
