2021 Sadly we went back recently and was Very dissapointed with our visit.
We have 2 children who are on the spectrum and we were waiting at the nearest point for the train ride. There was no queue, There was no sign to say where to queue. It was a weekday and so was quiet. We let the 1st tour go so our kids could go together as last year our youngest got very upset going away on his own around the farm. When it came to the changeover of kids I took the 1st 2 pods and lifted the youngest in but because another parent wanted their child to go immediately again instead of waiting their turn, my 2nd child with special needs was turned away. We were also made to feel like we were creating a scene as the girl told us off in front of everyone for not queueing in a certain zone where not a single person had queued and was unmarked. I had to take my first child out who was crying at this point and stand in the unmarked queueing area with my 2 children. It felt like we were criminals standing in the dock there in front of everyone. Though the girl apologised when she came back. This COMPLETELY RUINED our day and our experience of Ardmore for the eight people in our party.
None of us will be going back again and would be quite apprehensive about reccomending...
Read moreAbsolutely fabulous place to stay with small kids. We stayed with our 2 sons aged 5 and 18 months and they loved it. The pods are so cosy and have everything you need. Pull out sofa bed is extremely comfortable along with lovely cosy double bed for the kids. Communal kitchen/dining and living area was huge with all you need. No need to bring blankets/towels/kitchen ware etc. Communal shower area also lovely. Entire area is immaculately kept and the level of cleanliness is second to none. Even though the weather was very bad the day we arrived, there was still loads to do with the kids in the huge indoor play area. Youghal town is only a 10-15 mins drive away with plenty of big supermarkets if you are buying food to cook onsite. All staff were so friendly and helpful. Open farm and mini zoo is amazing...best open farm we've visited yet with plenty of activities for the kids if they get tired of looking at the animals. Bridget the owner runs a fabulous centre and is so friendly and helpful. we would highly recommend Ardmore glamping pods and open farm..could not name one single fault about any of it and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Such a treat and and a novelty for the kids. As a tech loving family we would have enjoyed a telly in the pod but not having one meant we got to spend some proper quality family...
Read moreLove this place. Two kids here and have visited every mini zoo and farm you can think of.
These places used to be very cheap to enter and these days the prices have gone way up but here is one of the few places that feels like the money is going back into the facilities. Very clean, well maintained fences, paths, and enclosures etc.
There are a few extras here too for the kids like carnival style games to play, an outdoor playground, and a soft play inside (easy to watch from the seating area) so you can spend a good while here if you're kids are the right age.
Just a couple of the enclosures feel small, like the crocodile one for example, and the otters would prefer a deeper/larger pond I'm sure but on the whole, the animals seem well looked after and active.
Short spin to Ardmore (obviously), and Youghal/dungarvan not too far away, so a great location too.
The staff were very friendly also which...
