A lovely find along the Laois heritage trail and a peaceful place to sit and think about the beautiful Monastic history of Ireland. A gorgeous little village with homage to Gort Na Mor which is a very sad and sombre past of Ireland.

Lovely little town. Nice walking around the round Tower and ruins that are there. Inside the church is some info and folk stories. Also a small coffee shop, with really tasty treats. Loads of picnic benches. We sat at some stone ones right...

A lovely find along the Laois heritage trail and a peaceful place to sit and think about the beautiful Monastic history of Ireland. A gorgeous little village with homage to Gort Na Mor which is a very sad and sombre past of Ireland. The round tower stands beautifully amongst the ruins and Church and is one of the best maintained in Ireland. Beautiful Timahoe.

This place is an absolute gem, a fine example of a round tower and it's in Laois! If this is your thing it's well worth a visit and you could also check out the Rock of Dunamase while you're at it.
