Such a dangerous entrance into the car park, straight off the motorway with no slip road. Similarly dangerous coming out of it.
The walk has zero sign posts to guide you, so we walked the wrong way twice and had to keep turning back onto the “main route” thanks to google maps. We also thought it was a loop, but it didn’t seem to be, we had to just walk back the way we came up. Again, some signs would have been helpful.
You can hear the noise from the motorway for the first while of the walk which isn’t very relaxing.
FYI: As you drive into to the car park, the start of the walk is to the left, not the right entrance. We made that mistake at the start.
The only plus: The view from the Octagon was breathtaking! Really unique and beautiful views. It’s a nice nature walk but with the above “dangers” that weren’t ideal, important to take those...
Read moreFound this trail when looking for nice walks just outside Dublin. Unfortunately the parking spot is very easy to pass by, so use Google Maps and slow down your car at 60kmph for at least 500m. The trail is not marked, so I used AllTrails app to discover it better. It's around 6km length, but there's some shortcuts as well. I would recommend to not take your best running shoes here, cause it can get really muddy at some point from people that ride their horses. It took around 2-3 hours with lots of photo stops. The trail looks like a loop, so when you're getting at the end, you'll have to take the unpaved path and enjoy the forest closely. In the parking lot there's a few benches and tables if you want to have a...

Among these was the Octagon, built in 1766, with a panther on springs, which could be made to jump out at unwary visitors. The house was most famous for its huge glasshouse, built between 1783 and 1793, in which many exotic plants were grown.Sadly there are only these...
