Not good. If you are coeliac avoid at all costs. Despite asking at least three times if gluten free bread is available and explaining that I am coeliac and not gluten free through choice, I was served regular brown bread which - fortunately - I did not eat We queried if the ham was crumbed or plain and were told - quite rudely - that it is baked. We asked for water with our lunch and were served tiny glasses with about 4 fluid ounces in each. The table was wiped over and all the crumbs were pushed onto my daughter's lap. The table was still greasy and smeared after this. The food is totally overpriced and with the exception of one young staff member the rest of the staff were rude and disinterested. We stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes waiting to pay and were simply ignored until the young staff member eating her lunch interrupted her break to take our money and apologised for the delay. My luunch was not gluten free although is should have been as all the ingredients were naturaly gluten free. There must have been some cross comtanination preparing it. This resulted in me becoming very ill on the drive back to Dublin. Fortunately, my daughter was able to drive after this. I have been sick from this experience now for three days. There is obviously no proper staff training programme both for dealing with food allergies and general customer service. I can't remember when I had such an awful meal. Finally, when I complained as we were leaving I was told that gluten free bread is always available and kept in the freezer. A truly...

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a Celtic Wellness Retreat at Loughcrew Estate end of September 2025. It was a truly magical experience in a truly magical setting! Owners Emily and Dermot were not just incredibly warm and welcoming but became very much part of our special weekend together, bringing their own lived experience as well as the history and heritage of this unique venue to life in so many ways! As the retreat hosts, we were also delighted and so impressed - from start to finish - by the incredibly friendly, super-efficient event management team. Special thanks to Diana whose communication and support throughout was second to none, and Margy who was seamless in each and every interaction we had. Ceangal is based in France and so organising our first event in Ireland was full of potential challenges but the Loughcrew team ensured the smoothest of preparations, striking the perfect balance between being available throughout and giving us the space to fully enjoy the experience. The accommodation, the yoga/mindfulness rooms, the outdoor spaces, the gardens and of course the cairns just up the road combined to provide the perfect backdrop for our Celtic Wellness Retreat. We highly recommend this venue...

I can’t even decide, if this spot is worthy of 1 star. I arrive today at 3.45 thinking I had atleast one hour to look around with the two small people. I arrived to a dark cafe that had the chairs turned up on the tables, nothing in the fridges to eat or drink and no staff members anywhere to be seen. When the staff member eventually came down the stairs, she took my 16€ for me and two little girls and then proceeded to tell me the gates will be closed in 40 mins and I will have to gone by then. Crazy when it should be open till 5 and not even a chance to get a coffee etc. Lost out on business I was going to give to the coffee shop and sadly after today I do not think I’ll return. After our rushed walk around the park, we went back to return pens from the cafe and the two staff couldn’t have rushed us out more if they tried to! Sadly the grounds and garden are not well maintained and while we walked through the maze near the end one small person picked up a hammer that was left down. Dangerous if you ask me. Will not return and will...

Loughcrew Estate & Gardens are full of history, beauty, fantasy, and atmosphere making the visit a magical experience. Loughcrew Gardens are a breathtaking spectacle from 17th and 19th century landscape and pleasure gardens. Take a walk through centuries of garden and landscape fantasy. The central area of approximately six acres includes a lime avenue, extensive lawns and terraces, a magnificent herbaceous border and physic border. Within the gardens stand a medieval motte and St. Oliver Plunkett’s family church and Tower House. If you would rather, there is also a longer lake walk around Lough Creeve. There is some beautiful scenery to be taken in along the way, as it goes right past Loughcrew House. With extra treats along the way as the walk itself takes in different forest and rockery walks and also has a fairy ring. This walk starts and finishes at the Limetree Coffee Shop.

I just want to say, on behalf of myself and my mam, dad, sister, niece and nephew, that we had such a wonderful, enchanting experience at the light show on Saturday evening. We all dressed up in our winter woollies and it was so nice to walk around with our hot chocolates and admire the innovative displays. I was especially impressed with the giant teacups and the displays made with recycled plastic bottles. The kids (aged 6 and 2.5!!) loved it and were SO excited, they loved finding the miniature displays within treasure chests, chests of drawers... they didn't miss a thing!! We had visited the gardens in the summer for the fairy trail and this is now one of our favourite places to be. We all had a lovely time and then headed to Caffery's pub in Oldcastle afterwards for a scrumptious dinner. Keep up the great work Loughcrew Team!! 😀😍😎
