Overall a great place for kids for a day out but as someone who works in the animal care industry I had some concerns. The guinea pigs were covered in mats that were half the size of their bodies. These can be very painful and pull on the skin. When I touched the mat the Guinea pig jumped and squealed. It’s a two second job to fix this and ease the pain. One of the sheep was limping so badly it was hard to watch. If they are getting veterinary care already they should be put away as it looks bad to see any animal struggling. If that’s not possible even a sign to say ‘I’m feeling under the weather but the vet says I’ll be better soon’ something to let people know that they are being looked after. On another occasion when we were standing over beside the Guinea pigs and rabbits, a female member of staff picked a rabbit off the ground and threw it into the cage with force clearly angry that the rabbit kept escaping. This wasn’t nice to see but for kids to see this also was not good. We did say it to the staff member that she was rough but in relation to the other things I don’t think it needs to be said directly to staff on the day as if you’re working with animals it’s common sense that they are pain free and...
Read moreMy husband and I were very impressed with the place. We don't have kids but we like the animals anyway. I believe the price is very fair, and they give you some leaves and bread to feed the animals as you go. Many people (specially children) keep grabbing grass and weeds from around the paddocks to offer to the hoofed cuties. They have rabbits in many areas, including a few on a open tray for us to pet (not allowed to pick them up!). They have different types of chickens, ducks, geese, emus, donkeys, horses, cows... I can't list them all. One suggestion I would give is to add little signs with some info about the animals, because I was very curious about some of them, like the pheasants that were very different. Also some fluffy chickens that were very funky. It's a very family friend place. I almost felt dislocated by being there without a kid 😅 They have different areas with playgrounds and stuff and the children seemed to be having fun. I was pleased that the place was not noisy or overwhelming, even with all the families around. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and probably spent about an hour...
Read moreAbout 25 minutes west of Dublin along the N7, this little farm offers a great day out for the family. Kids will love feeding the goats, sheep, chickens, horses, and numerous other animals, then move on to the go-carts to explore the place further. There are several playgrounds strewn around the premises, offering fun and exercise for toddlers and older kids. Short pony rides are offered as well, plus there's a zip-line. Snacks and drinks can be bought at reception at reasonable prices. Covered areas offer seating during bad weather, and there are several picnic tables and benches within the grounds. Toilet and baby changing facilities were in good order and clean when we visited, and free hand sanitizer was available in several locations. Entrance is a mere €4 per head (Aug 2021). Friendly and helpful staff, plus ample parking. All-round...
