We had an amazing experience on the barge with Ger & his son. We celebrated my partners 50th birthday. We brought snacks to have with the tea and coffee available on board along with the bar. We chose the Digby lock cruise. It was a 2.5hr trip not to be forgotten. Filled with fantastic views, photo opportunities and lots of history and knowledge of the canals and waterways. We experienced the barge dropping into the lock and rising through. We stopped briefly on the Aqua duct to observe and to hear the history behind the bridge. Memories of the day will not be forgotten. We were made feel very welcome on board . The barge is well kept to her authentic glory. The wood stove was burning to keep the cabin cosy. We were lucky enough to have the perfect weather so we all had enough space to stay comfortably outside. We would 100% recommend this experience as it’s more...

Very happy to recommend this trip on the barge from Sallins to Digby Lock. It’s a wonderful setting, a whole different way to see the countryside & birdlife, going at the relaxed pace of the barge. Add in the experience of heading through the lock, both rising up & down + crossing the Liffey on the beautiful Leinster Acquaduct The barge was well kept & well organized. Stove made the inside as cosy as could be. My grandsons’ favourite spot was at the front. We bought our food to have with the tea & coffee available. But, best of all was our skipper Chris. We decided it was his genuine enthusiasm, range of information & willingness to discuss all our questions which made our morning such a success. A big thanks from 7...

The boat ride is lovely and very calm, the boat itself is full of interesting knick knacks, and some books to peruse on the topic of the canal, it's history and wildlife. The captain is very informative and charming. And theres a selection of drinks (alcohol and non alcoholic, fizzy drinks, tea and coffee etc)

There's comfy couches on the inside and your free to move about as you please, so you can be cozy by the fireplace or look out to the canal on either open end of the boat.

As someone generally interested in transport methods, and who hasn't been on many boats I really enjoyed this! But I think anyone would like it. It's a calm and unique experience.

Had a great time, would 100%...

We had a wonderful family morning on the barge. We were lucky with the weather and could sit outside and enjoy the tranquility of the canal and the nature around us. The canal ride is accompanied by stories from the guide, however, we were sitting at the front of the boat and could not hear much. We had a stop at the Leinster Aquaduct and it was very informative to hear its history. The children also really enjoyed watching the process of crossing to a higher level of the canal and the crew handled the demonstration very professionally. The boat is not big, but cozy and clean. The toilets are also in good condition. The barge has a bar with a variety of different drinks.

We had an amazing boat trip with Captain Chris! Our whole family was on board, and it was truly a day to remember. Chris was friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel welcome and safe from the moment we stepped on the boat. The scenery was stunning, the vibe was relaxed, and the kids had an absolute blast. It’s not always easy to please every generation in one outing, but this trip did just that. We laughed, relaxed, explored, and made some beautiful memories together. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun, family-friendly day out on the water. Thanks again, Captain Chris – we’ll definitely be back!
