Hidden gem in the area, members of D'arcy family buried within church near Castle. Some gravestones dating from 1700s just before property was abandoned. Church has a cellar like crypt and I'm curious who's buried there. There is a modern cruciform shaped stone mound which must have been placed recently. One castle turret is well preserved. Parking is awkward. The council could maybe subsidise landowners for a small designated parking area to improve access.
After some google reading: Cromwell troops fired on it whilst passing and it was then burnt down in 1798 by the Irish rebellion. Occupant George D'Arcy was said to have hosted King James the night before Battle of Boyne and then King William the day after. "Who will be king, I do not know, But I'll be d'Arcy of Dunmoe."

After that there are a few tricky small steps/three climbs over gaps in a wall
The castle etc isn't really worth this effort as you're on top of it and the other side is overgrown bushes etc
But the view of the ramparts, ardmulchan house and then church/graveyard is well worth it, plus you can hear that Boyne at the weir
